Canceled?[edit]

First of all, that link that says that the show is canceled is not very confiable. Second, the show is not totally cancelled, Animal planet still airs it weekday and there are no official word from the channel. I would put it as in hiatus as there are not new episodes for one year but no canceled. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.244.197.41 (talk) 17:55, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The source is a reliable news source. And how would you know? Animal Planet does not announce most cancellations, and being canceled does not mean that reruns do not still air. It is, by all accounts, gone. They are no longer filming (which has been confirmed by the Meerkat Project and Oxford).-- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 18:21, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I read that the director of meerkat manor is searching for a channel to air the series/ or a new series. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.247.122.236 (talk) 22:02, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Which director? And where? In a reliable source or on a fansite where people are just hoping? Thus far, AP has offered no sign that it will be renewing the series or doing another new. The only RS news I've seen in the last month is one paper noting that some fans started a petition to beg for more seasons. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 22:12, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think the article could use information on why the show was canceled (if this exists). It's bizarre reading about how the show is canceled and then literally the next sentence says Meerkat Manor is Animal Planet's most popular series. 65.199.57.194 (talk) 21:41, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If such information were available, it would be here, but thus far, AP has remained silent on the whys and basically just let it die. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 21:50, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think that is better to put "in hiatus" because repeats continue ariring and is premering the fourth season in many parts of the world like here in Latinoamerica. A canceled series it will not still premering in other parts of the world i think. In Latinoamerica it was premiered in October 28th. The first 3 seasons were in spanish but the fourth was with subtitles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.247.121.78 (talk) 20:22, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That is incorrect. The series is canceled. Its reairings in other countries have nothing to do with that. It isn't "premiering" on the whole, only airing for the first time there. Cancelled means they are no longer making new episodes, which is correct. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 21:04, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suggs - Simon[edit]

The meerkat named Suggs in the United Kingdom version it was named Simon in the United States version (See Ap U.S. website to view the name and description of Simon) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.247.121.78 (talk) 01:46, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suggs being? And source on UK name? And he is major enough to mention because? I get that you are apparently a new fan of the series, but please recognize that all of the Meerkat Manor articles are featured level articles and unsourced, random information will be removed without prejudice as one criteria for being featured is that every bit of it is sourced to high quality, reliable sources. Further, please note this is not a Meerkat Manor fansite and every minor detail about the series will not be included here, only the most important aspects. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 01:48, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Im not a new fan of the series. Im on Animal Planet`s forums from 2007-2008. In the "National Variations" section it says all the variations from all the seasons but season 4`s variations are not there. There are many variations but the most important is of "Suggs-Simon". Is not a very important characters (is more like De la Soul- Whoopi) that died in that episode. I don`t have any source for the name "Suggs" (that name was used in a pup of season 3), i searched for descriptions of episodes in discovery uk but is not there (there are aring Season 1 episodes). I see many times the episode and the name Suggs was used for the meerkat that died in that epsiode. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.247.121.78 (talk) 01:58, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If he was so unnotable that he isn't mentioned anywhere else, then there really is no reason to even list it. The section is not intended to be exhaustive.-- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 02:03, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Suggs is named after Suggs, the lead singer of the 2 Tone ska revival band Madness. One of his littermates, Buster, is named after Buster Bloodvessel, lead singer of the 2 Tone ska revival band Bad Manners. This will mean something to you if you are aged 40+, as I am. I expect the choice of names reflects the agd and musical interests age of one or some of the film-makers ...86.134.92.124 (talk) 15:50, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Without proper sourcing then we cannot include such information.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 15:57, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate Section Title[edit]

[1]

According to wp:head, "The" should not be in title.

Objections?174.3.110.108 (talk) 23:09, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I object to the change. If the heading were just "Meerkats", it would presumably be about meerkats in general. A heading titled "The meerkats", on the other hand, suggests that the section is about the meerkats [of Meerkat Manor], and indeed that is what the section is about. In this case, the use of "the" in the section heading serves a specific, constructive purpose, and WP:HEAD should be ignored.--Father Goose (talk) 23:45, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What about ==Characters==?174.3.110.108 (talk) 00:47, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, they are not "characters". That was a short lived promise, but not unexpected. Folks who act like that rarely do keep their word. The current heading is fully appropriate for the content, and obviously none of the FA reviewers had any problem with it. Unlike you, they are knowledgeable on what makes a high quality Wikipedia article, and it is their collective approval of this article that I will trust, not stalkers who can't even keep a "promise" for 2 hours. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 01:49, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Promise? What promise. Also, see my comments on my talk.174.3.110.108 (talk) 05:08, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Characters are actually the agents in a film/motion picture (applying, for our purposes, in this case). I don't see the problem with appelling the section with this headline instead. Did the FA reviewers even explicitly indicate that this was the preferred term? They may have overlooked it.174.3.110.108 (talk) 05:12, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This is not a fictional series. Characters is a term used for FICTIONAL works not a documentary. And this bullshit you posted earlier[2]. Good to know you are so honest. Your "proposal" has been rejected. Get over it and go find someone else to bother. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 05:15, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The meerkats just doesn't seem right. I don't think the truth in the show matters. "Characters" or "actors"?174.3.110.108 (talk) 01:27, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it does matter. They are neither characters nor actors. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 01:33, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
