I am opening this thread because it seems unnecessary to me to make an article about the "new WBD streaming service" when it is the relaunch and rebranding of HBO Max, simply renamed Max. The only thing that changes is the addition of the Discovery+ catalog, simplification of the name, a new url and new payment plans. There was no need to make a new article when you can carry over and move the name in the original article. Luis1944MX (talk) 05:30, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Completely support. This is no different to CBS All Access becoming Paramount+ which kept one article. - Brojam (talk) 05:44, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Csworldwide1 (talk) 05:51, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • This is a malformed request, which should be discussed at Talk:HBO Max, not here. In addition, the wrong tag has been placed on this article, and no tag has been placed on the HBO Max article. BilCat (talk) 08:24, 13 April 2023 (UTC) This is now resolved. InfiniteNexus (talk) 16:21, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Luis1944MX: Please follow the steps here to tag the two pages accordingly. InfiniteNexus (talk) 16:52, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per the nomination and Brojam's comment. (Comment: I have re-added the "Merge" templates to both HBO Max and Max (streaming service) which where removed.) vistadan 16:28, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: Per nom and Brojam. No point in two separate articles for the same service but with a different name. kpgamingz (rant me) 17:12, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, since it is confirmed the streaming service will be revamped as "Max" and no longer "HBO Max". — JuanGLP (talk + contribs) 19:17, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Its the same case of CBS All Access and Paramount+.OscarFercho (talk) 00:42, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, same case as Paramount+ 2A01:E0A:5A8:1C00:4193:BE0E:901C:D1D0 (talk) 11:06, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Rigby103: Are you the same person as the IP above you? I find it hard to believe this was a coincidence. InfiniteNexus (talk) 17:19, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, It's just a rebrand of HBO Max with Discovery content added.--GalaxyFighter55 (talk) 06:48, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support merge As others pointed out, this is similar to CBS All Access becoming Paramount+. All the Max content can be easily covered here and will contain all relevant details once the rebrand occurs. Trailblazer101 (talk) 15:28, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom Pneen (talk) 20:05, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong support. HBO Max could be in the "History" section of Max, completely per nom. The Corvette ZR1 (talk) 22:48, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would like to have the Wikipedia article about the upcoming streaming service Max. LippyLarue (talk) 22:20, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Revisit?[edit]

I honestly feel like these articles should be split, as WBD operates "HBO Max" and "Max" as separate services. Credentials for one do not work on the other, which means that, currently, non-U.S. users traveling to the U.S. and U.S. users traveling abroad are unable to access either service. Presumably, when the "Max" service launches in other territories, this will become even more apparent. —2600:1700:D04:8240:8607:29D4:DA9F:4A00 (talk) 23:34, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Max was just a rebrand and not a completely new service launching. HBO Max still redirects to this article for readers looking for it, and this article is for the service in its entirety, the U.S. version Max and for all other territories that are also set to undergo the rebranding over time. It is the same as with moving CBS All Access to Paramount+ and Epix (TV channel) to MGM+ rather than generating separate articles. Trailblazer101 (talk) 23:40, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If it were literally just a rebrand, I'd agree. But this transition also required all U.S. users to uninstall their existing "HBO Max" apps and install new "Max" apps on their devices. Also, like I mentioned, U.S. users lost the ability to log in to the service abroad after this happened, as "HBO Max" and "Max" do not share credentials. It may have been promoted as a rebrand, but from a technical perspective, WDB really did shut down one service and replace it with another. I think it's also safe to assume that as "Max" launches in other countries, the credentials will be shared with the U.S. service. I think this is different from the Epix rebrand because that didn't lead to a transition period with one service operating in some territories and another operating in others, with no interoperability between them. —2600:1700:D04:8240:8607:29D4:DA9F:4A00 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 23:49, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thought I'd add some references to back up my claims: [1] and [2]. —2600:1700:D04:8240:8607:29D4:DA9F:4A00 (talk) 00:12, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reception[edit]

Shouldn't we also mention how a handful of certain Cartoon Network shows aren't on Max either? XSMan2016 (talk) 23:19, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

HBO Go merging into Max[edit]

The only difference between HBO Go and HBO Max was better overall app and new Max original shows. Daniel.9 (talk) 15:16, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Upgrade number of suscribers[edit]

The number of suscribers for the streaming service has increased considerably to more than 90 million of them, as it is clerlt that it's no longer over 76 million that it received in 2022. However, there is a source that confirms that there is 95.1 million of them but other that confirms 97.7 million. Should we wait till we have a more specific number??
