Above the Lake or on the Wall, that is the question[edit]

Bor's Bibliography mentions Bršljan nad jezerom ("Ivy above the Lake", 1951), and so does the Slovene WP.
Ivy above the Lake???
Well, I've found several sources (Encyclopedia of World Literature in the 20th Century; Mihailovich's Modern Slavic Literatures; Reader's Encyclopedia of Eastern European Literature; Le livre slovène of the Association des écrivains slovènes; Zgodovina slovenskega slovstva: Ekspresionizem in socialni realizem by Jože Pogačnik, Taras Kermauner's Natura in intima: Poezija petih pesnikov; Osnutki by Bojan Štih; Iz roda v rod duh išče pot by Janez Menart; and Pregled slovenske književnosti by Stanko Janež, as well as the Library of Congress - LCC No.: 55022217 - and the catalogue of Austria's Nat. Library) that give the title as Bršljan nad jezom - and that makes better sense: "on the dam". Ivy does frequently overgrow stone walls, doesn't it? However, the translation "above the abyss" in one of the books seems rather fanciful and far-fetched). Stanko Janež in his Istorija slovenačke književnosti and Krsto Špoljar in Književni godišnjak spell the title nad jazom, but that is Croat - with a different meaning, though.
On the other hand, there is Evgen Bergant's Znameniti Slovenci. The Famous Slovenians with "nad jezerom" - probably the same mistake that the Slovene WP made. Anyway, with all the evidence for jezom I think a correction of the WP entry is justified. Any objections?--Marschner (talk) 20:06, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's a good edit. Here is the published poem: http://books.google.si/books?id=imQ-AAAAIAAJ&q=%22Br%C5%A1ljan+nad+jezom%22&dq=%22Br%C5%A1ljan+nad+jezom%22&hl=sl&ei=DsLOTMHGJtS7jAf6tqHXBw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CCgQ6AEwAQ as well as http://books.google.si/books?id=z-Q_AAAAIAAJ&q=%22Br%C5%A1ljan+nad+jezom%22&dq=%22Br%C5%A1ljan+nad+jezom%22&hl=sl&ei=DsLOTMHGJtS7jAf6tqHXBw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CCwQ6AEwAg Doremo (talk) 13:36, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
High School Student Ines Mihev from Dravograd obviously hadn't had a look at Bor's poems when quoting the title "Bršljan nad jezerom" and of course translating it as ″Ivy Above the Lake" in her paper on Matej Bor ( § 3.2.1 Bibliography, p. 11) - and her MENTHOR [sic!] Leo Šešerko at Velenje Visoka Šola for Environmental Protection didn't pay too much attention either!
I guess both of them fully relied on WP. Well, in the meantime I've corrected the Slovene WP-entry too.--Marschner (talk) 19:36, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The "menthor" and Mihev should have also tried turning on the spell checker. :-) This is a good example of a ripple effect of a WP error. Doremo (talk) 04:55, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
