Football[edit]

I've removed the POV content (and title) of the Football section. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an advertisement for the team. This section probably belongs at Massillon Washington High School, since it is that school that this section speaks of. Because of the originally POV nature of this section, a good fact-checking may be in order. Remove inappropriate tone tag?[edit]

Justification for reversion of edits to Football section[edit]

The info about Spielman was fine as it was worded. "The Ohio State University" wording is awkward in this context. Spielman was indeed a two-time All-Pro, so it's perfectly reasonable to reference that in this paragraph rather than simply calling him a "veteran". The statement about Massillon having the second most high school football wins behind Valdosta, GA still needs a source, so I put the tag back in. I removed the references to the websites for several reasons: (1) it's not notable that there are blogs devoted to Tigers football, (2) Wikipedia is not a link farm and (3) links to blogs should be avoided. --Sanfranman59 (talk) 03:42, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Justification for removal of Massillon.com external link[edit]

Geographic Area and Annexation[edit]

According to data on the official municipal website Massillon[1], the total acreage of the city stood at 12,050.039 (18.28 square miles, 47.34 square kilometers) as of January 10, 2007. On the same website, under the "Mayor's Office" section [2]the city area is stated to stand at 12,128.653 acres (18.951 square miles, 49.083 square kilometers).

I have made an inquiry with the City of Massillon to verify and clarify this information on their website. Once reconciled and publicly available through the official city website, I suggest that this information be utilized to update the "Geography" section and the "Area" section of this article's sidebar, including a note of reference. In the case of the Geography section I would suggest adding a sentence to the existing entry that speaks of the City's continued growth in area due to annexation.
