Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Mari Ruti has written several non-academic works which have been given attention in popular media. --Politikuserna (talk) 22:00, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Glad this user contested the deletion. She was/is clearly notable. Sad to hear of her passing. Let's continue to move the article in the direction of encyclopedic, worthy of her scholarship and memory. a former professor. 2601:246:C201:39B6:307A:C777:C253:7EA4 (talk) 03:07, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Earlier entry into the U.S.[edit]

There is mention made in at least one obit, and at a posting to a memorial site made after Prof. Ruth's passing, that makes clear that she came to the U.S. as a secondary school student, rather than, for the first time, to attend Brown. For sake of further research, the statement made at the memorial site was that Ruti "studied... at Swampscott High School in Massachusetts in the early 1980s". Should evidence be found for this in reliable publications, this is a detail that might be added to the Early life... section, as the early education and development of scholarly potential is of interest both in historical and educational studies.
