Initial first president

Indy beetle: I saw the edit summary on your revert; I know French sometimes doesn't capitalize initial letters where they would be capitalized in English, so perhaps we can get around this with "initial First President of..."? Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 19:50, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

@Mike Christie: I would agree, but as you can see in the article I'm not in the habit of capitalizing any names of the offices/positions (e.g. "Lihau was appointed commissioner-general of justice"). I'd prefer to keep it this way, unless MOS suggests otherwise. I could also just say Lihau was the first premier president or first prime president of the Supreme Court, because its understandable in English and not incompatible with the French translation. I agree consistency is important. Not sure if the MoS says anything about this; I'll poke around tomorrow and see if I can find I anything. I'm done for the night; I'll try to finish the review in the morning and will look at this again then, but if not it may be a day or two. That seems to imply that initial capitals should be used for foreign titles when they are translated into English. There's also MOS:FOREIGNTITLE, which I think implies the same thing. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 04:37, 19 August 2017 (UTC)
