Untitled[edit]

One of the most noteworthy (inflammatory if you're an Obama supporter) comments Marc recently stated was that "Obama made Bush look like a genius", re: economic policies and deficit spending. Shouldn't the tagline be edited to have two sentences instead of one? It seems to be a typo at this point. I would have changed it in the article, but I couldn't verify that tagline on the web.


I am not entirely convinced this person is notable or famous enough to deserve a wikipage.

He definitely is famous enough to get an article, if you are in the finance world you see him on finance news programs all the time. This article is poorly written though and is not encyclopedic. Papile (talk) 21:22, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I remember Marc Faber in an appearance on CNBC Asia during the Asian Crisis with Paul Krugman dropping in as well in a segment hosted by Bernard Lo long before they came to public prominence in North America. Mr. Lo seemed to be anticipating sparks to fly but it was a rather muted affair. It would be very interesting to see what a meeting between the two today would be like. Both are among the best public commentators on the subject and at least publicly they espouse opposing views. Faber is definitely notable enough. Some of the citation needed tags here can probably be addressed by looking up some of his previously free Gloom Boom and Doom reports if they can still be found and by checking news sources on his prognostications. Some of his views used to appear on a site called Quamnet if I am not mistaken and he has had fairly regular appearances on CNBC Asia before being featured on CNBC and Bloomberg. Constantly Bearish, always calling for recessions, corrections, and market tops, and almost always wrong.[edit]

If anyone wants to be truly responsible, they could flesh out his predictions and warnings section to show the hundreds, not exaggerating, times Faber has been wrong.

It's easy to take credit for calling a top when you make that call over and over and over again. But this wiki is very lopsided (like many of the wiki entries for these guys who were eventually right and that's all anyone remembers).

Also missing from this wiki, as it's probably just completely opaque are any of his performance results. He had a prominent position in a firm that collapsed after 12 years. Kudos. Then he 'started his own company'. And that's it? Don't blank sections[edit]

Two IP users have blanked an entire section of the article. I've reverted the second one. Both IP addresses have only edited this article, and a geolocation search says that both originate in Thailand (the same country in which Faber is now based, according to the article). Both edits seem to suggest that they were restoring, not blanking, information, but blanked they did. One claimed to be a "world authority" (on what?) and accused editors of being "wikipedia idiots." Suspicious. Anyway, please only make constructive edits to Wikipedia. Contentious heading[edit]

@DanJazzy:, the quote If stating some historical facts makes me a racist, then I suppose that I am a racist. is NOT an admission of racism. Particularly since he states in the same interview God knows that I am not a racist. Now, you and I may think he’s a racist. But, our opinions are not relevant.
