Configuration[edit]

Okay, watching a few videos and seeing a few websites, I was able to find that the Riverfront Loop operated in a counter-clockwise direction, and that it used the Main Street Line's eastern tracks, which would make sense since it would travel north on Main. What I'm still unsure about is why the CN's western track that it used to run south along is still connected to the active CN track by a switch a few miles north of downtown. You'd think you would not want the lines physically connected, but google shows that the tracks are still connected at the Conslidated Grain & Barge Terminal at 1079 North 2nd Street. There is no connection back to the active CN track once you head south on the trolly tracks, so can someone explain why there is still a physical connection, here?--Criticalthinker (talk) 07:26, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
