Virtual bodies[edit]

I believe that the virtual bodies of the Lyoko Gang should be discussed here. --User:Angie Y.

(Belief second-ed, unless you-know-who stops us.) Maybe their forms will change in Season 3. --Gravity Control

It would depend on what you mean by their virtual bodies. Their powers and such are already listed in their specific articles. If you meant that wireframe model they seem to consist of, I suppose that would work. - Someguy0830 (Talk) 04:25, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anybody think that they could upgrade their weapons? Ulrich I know will gain the ability to run on virtual water - which, personally, I'd love to see - but what about the others? Like, will Odd be able to use his claws for fighting as well as climbing? -- Aelita@Lyoko 21:42, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Time of Day?[edit]

Has anyone ever noticed how the skies of the different sectors (except Carthage) seem to represent various times of day in order? I state as follows:

  • Ice Barrier (Sector 1): Night/Early morning
  • Mountain (Sector 2): Morning
  • Forest (Sector 3): Afternoon
  • Desert (Sector 4): Evening Sunset

Now obviously Lyoko doesn't rotate and the flow of time there is nonexistant. I don't know if these apparent time periods should be noted in article or not, but I thought it was interesting nonetheless. --Jeremie@theLab 12:29, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, nice... maybe there's a "sun" somewhere between the mountain region and forest region. But then again, no sun appears in the Pole, Mountain and Desert. However, in the forest, there does appears some sort of sunshine...85.250.218.52 14:17, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'd actually prefer to think that, like everything in Lyoko (including water), the light and times of day are permanently programmed. You'll notice that the color of the sky never changes in each sector. --Jeremie@theLab 06:48, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
But you might notice there seems to be some kind of sunny rays between the trees. Observe the pictures of the forest region - you'll see shades and sunlight. I'm not saying that there is a sun, but there could be some source of light programmed inside the forest region. 85.250.218.52 18:10, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I thought there was something wierd about the sky in the different sectors. Nice to know I'm not crazy or something! -- User:Aelita@Lyoko 20 August 2006
Well, the orangey orb surrounding Carthage could be called a "sun" of sorts since it glows with fiery orange energy. However, if that is the case, it only lights three sectors, and that's at three different light intensity levels. There might be inhibitors or programming in place to insure this. --Jeremie@theLab 18:32, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually that couldn't be a sun because in the 4th season carthage is no longer surrounded by an orangey orb it is instead covered by the same surface that the spheres that conceal lyoko and replikas on the digital except instead of being blue it is tan. But at the same time of this change the skies remain the same.71.166.1.99 (talk) 18:22, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hm. Could be. They should have designed it so that the light intensity changes from day to night in every sector or - or - I'm explaining myself badly. Has anybody figured out what I'm talking about? -- Aelita@Lyoko 21:45, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You mean like they do in the Grand Theft Auto games, where the day, night, morning and evening are compressed into 24 minutes? I know what you're talking about. I agree, that would be cool. it would be interesting to see the light reflections off the ice bergs or plateus in different lights. --Jeremie@theLab 20:37, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What you said is wrong. In order, the sectors go Ice Barrier, Desert, Forest and Mountain. However, that is the direct opposite order. ~iNVERTED | Rob (Talk) 22:41, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That is interesting, but I think it's just so the sectors stay in "character" (for want of a better term), as it would make no sense at all to have the Desert sector's sky a deep blue, or the Ice sector's sky a vibrant orange. Interesting theory, though. Someone should look into that... Bfahome 19:49, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No forest sector in the image caption[edit]

Since Someguy0830 refuses to accept my reasoning that this info doesn't belong in the image caption, I'm going to put a poll here: Should the image caption contain information about the existence of the Forest sector? Yes or no. My vote, of course, is no. ~iNVERTED | Rob (Talk | Contribs) 17:31, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In two weeks most regular viewers will know it's gone. It's something that should be noted. Case in point: Aelita's human appearance. She doesn't look like that in the following season, so we note it. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 17:34, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That wasn't my point. I'm not saying remove it because it's a spoiler. The info doesn't belong in the image caption, it belongs in the Forest section.
The info is in the forest section. The caption notes the difference because the image is outdated. It is noting a discrepancy between the image we display and the actual appearance of Lyoko as it is now. – Someguy0830 (Talk | contribs) 17:57, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What image caption? – TechnoCat (talk) 00:13, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey...[edit]

where should I put the line about the diference in monster destruction when a sector is deleted? 24.193.53.223 21:21, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's noted with the monster that died. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 21:17, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. But where should i mention that the monsters in the Ice Barrier and Desert sectors fell into the void? 24.193.53.223 21:21, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It only happens once. Trivial inconsistency at best. Just because it happens doesn't mean it's important. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 21:23, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replika supercomputers[edit]

Did anyone but me notice that each of the Replika Super computers are in a real world location that has a similar climate to the Sector's simulated atmosphere:

  • The Forest Replika, located in the Amazon Rainforest (A Forest)
  • The Desert Replika, located in an abandoned army base in New Mexico (in the middle of a desert)
  • The Carthage Replika, located on an orbiting space station (out in the unexplored void just like carthage was)
  • The Ice Barrier Replika, located in Siberia (in cold icy plains)

Omg! I am so glad I am not the only one who noticed! I was beginning to think I was crazy! Williamsnotcute (talk) 20:31, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you're not crazy. I think they did that on purpose. – TechnoCat (talk) 06:27, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Code: NAME[edit]

In languages, what does "Lyoko" mean? A Word? A Place? A God?

Seriously, I searched outside of Wikipedia and so far came up with something about a potters kiln but still uncertain or know what a kiln has to relate to Lyoko. (Still the whole Lyoko/Kiln thing can still be inaccurate)

There are many reasons why it was first called Xanadu but why call it 'Lyoko'? what does the word in general mean?

81.154.239.179 (talk) 00:49, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, in Japanese, "ryoko"(or "ryouko, either way) means trip or vacation. since r's are used instead of l's in japanese, it could be transliterated into lyoko in some situations, or merely stem from ryoko. that's just an idea tho. Ulrock7777 (talk) 16:48, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Ulock7777[reply]

  • Well there are a few possibilities in Japanese, you have 旅行 (りょこう、ryokou) which means "a trip," or "travel;" but if Lyoko were transliterated it would more likely be to ryouko or ryoko, which can be represented as 両虎 (meaning "two rivals"), 竜虎 (an obscure term for "hero"), or 陵戸 (an Imperial tomb guard). The Japanese translate it as リョーコ, which is just spelling out "ryo-ko". In conclusion I doubt it was taken from anything Japanese, perhaps it was just meant to sound Japanese. Carthage's Purpose[edit]

I know that in "Franz Hopper" The XANA created Franz Hopper told the Lyoko Warriors that Carthage was a Multi-agent System created to block enemey communications, but this was XANA given information (he also claimed Aelita was a program). It would seem highly unlikely that all of that tech would be for scrambleing messages (granted it's a TV show, so it's up to how creative the writers are), in my idea, I would think it would have to deal with the single tower (test-tower?) in sector five. Like the project could have been a weapon based on useing the towers to affect the real world. Reguardless of what I think the real answer is, the point I'm trying to make is that I highly doubt its purpose being blocking enemey communications. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.185.64.175 (talk) 00:13, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In episode 5 ( "Big Bug" ) , Xana used a tower to mess up communnications. At around 5 minutes, 7 seconds into the episode, we get this bit of dialog:
"Do you read me, I repeat, do you read me? What's going on; I can't contact [I couldn't understand this word] ."
"Hey, the traffic lights are all blocked! The city's gonna be in total gridlock! The subway trains aren't stopping anywhere! What's going on‽"
"I don't know, I've got a sort of eye [the eye of Xana] on the monitor. The train switches aren't responding!…"
So, if Xana could stop whoever that was from contacting…whoever he was trying to contact, I think he could block enemy communications.

Carthage vs. Sector Five[edit]

Sector Five is referred to as "Carthage" throughout the Lyoko article. However, the Lyoko warriors always refer to it as "Sector Five" , so I think that the article should be changed to reflect that (changing all instances of "Carthage" to "Sector Five" . TechnoCat (talk) 00:12, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For clarity, let's keep it as "Carthage" Pandas (talk) 17:37, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
