Tax Evasion

It was revealed in a "Allentown Morning Call" newspaper article dated April 1st 2006 titled "Swann agrees to shell out sales tax" ** State Revenue Department had been looking into his online football memorabilia business.The article revealed that Mr Swann "has been neglecting to collect legally required state sales tax from Pennsylvania costumers of his football memorabilia website." While Mr Swann has proclaimed his distaste for Pennsylvania sales taxes, and even campaigned that if elected he would abolish the state sales tax; that does not give him the right to break the law; particularly if that benefits him financially. We are all required by law to pay taxes regardless of our political views on the issue. This is particularly troubling given the Government's fiscal crisis at Federal, State and local level. It is our patriotic duty to pay our taxes and to make sure taxes are collected. It is important that we keep politicians in check, and report any tax related issues. Olbermann "controversy"

I fail to see how this qualifies as a controversy or even justifies a mention in the article. I listened to the interview and the question about the Delaware River was taken as a joke by both Swann and Patrick. I don't think even Olbermann took it that seriously. Even if it has been in the news for almost a month, it has really only become a major public issue recently. There's nothing about this incident that makes it worth having a whole section about it bigger than that of the one about Swann's NFL career. -Maximusveritas 16:13, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

High School

The first paragraph is a summary, the highlights of man's life and career. If there is something noteworthy about attending that high school, it's not readily apparent. Yet it doesn't seem to fit in any of the other sections of the article, either.

It's when I read the Heinz Foundation bio that I figured out what's wrong. The guy has a wife who is referred to Dr. Charlene Swann, and two kids. We have little here except his football and political career. His degree was in public relations, and he has a public relations firm. As a reader, I'm curious. Is Dr. Swann a childhood sweetheart, someone he met while in USC, a physician that was treating him? How old are his two boys?

I think this needs fleshed out - but I don't have the information to do it. Anyone?

I don't think much of that info is publicly available. Swann's official bio doesn't even say anything about his wife, so I don't think he's all that willing to share that kind of info. I did a Google search on Charena Swann and found out that she is a psychotherapist with an LSW (Licensed Social Worker) qualification. I'm not sure why she is referred to as a doctor. - Maximusveritas 16:08, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

The information is in newspaper articles, though, especially now that he is a major candidate. In practice, sports stars are generally accorded more privacy about their personal lives than politicians (which is virtually none). I expect more about his family life to be added, and I have already added a blurb about the family in the biography. Calwatch 20:38, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Does this incident really deserve a mention in this article, much less 3 whole sentences about it? The only source provided is to a blog. I searched it on Google and couldn't find any news sources that mention it. Maximusveritas 23:34, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
