Balustrade[edit]

The Description section describing the roof links to another Wiki article which only discusses spindles in furniture or stairwells. Wondering how to reconcile this articles linkage to roof with definition of columns. Iowajason (talk) 02:49, 24 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In the Baluster article, the last sentence of the first paragraph defines a balustrade: "A group of balusters supporting handrail, coping, or ornamental detail are known as a balustrade." The first Gallery picture (Palazzo dei Conservatori) of that article is an example of a balustrade at a roofline, similar to what is seen on the east façade of the Louvre. The balusters of the balustrade are distinct from the columns of the colonnade.

You may need to enlarge the picture of the Louvre to see the balustrade at the roofline more clearly. --Robert.Allen (talk) 06:04, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
