Also, what's up with the "Stoping" thing? I'm thinking that's a typo, but it even has a link to the "Stoping" article (something related to mining?). There is an article for skateboards and a separate one for skateboarding, so it makes sense that the act of longboarding has it's own article apart from the longboard article. Though I think perhaps the longboard article should be merged with the skateboard article since the line between longboards and typical skateboards has been blurred out of existence by deck shapes that can't accurately be called longboards, but are still vastly different from typical skateboards. "Longboard" has really become a catch-all term to describe any deck that isn't 31" long by 8" wide, including minis and slalom decks well under 30", as well as slide decks that closely resemble typical street decks in appearance but are functionally very different. The term "longboard" should still be used within the skateboard article to differentiate between different types of boards, but I do not think longboards should have their own article apart from skateboards since longboards are simply skateboards that differ in shape and size from the modern standard. Same goes for the longboarding and skateboarding articles.

This seems pretty good. Perhaps, 'boards' should be renamed to 'styles' section and the board stuff moved to longboard (skateboard) What do people think?

I think the two sections need to become more distinct. Longboarding should focus on the various types of activities while Longboard should focus on what defines a longboard, and link to Longboarding for the different uses Longboards have Shredthegnar247 (talk) 17:04, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Boundry Cross[edit]

This article has too many items in common with Longboard. This Article should be over the style/act/method of using a longboard. Longboard should describe styles/builds/boards associated with the styles as well as typical styles of longboards. This article in-depth describes too much about boards and not enough about styles of riding. Picture Change[edit]

I believe, and I think most people will agree, that the main picture on the page is outdated and an all around sub-par representation of longboarding. The guy is pretty much riding a surf board with trucks on it. If allowed I would like to find a better picture that is more exciting and shows how far longboarding has come. A better picture would be great. However, keep in mind that we can't accept copyrighted pictures - we can only take pictures that have a compatible license - such as WP:CC-BY-SA. The best way to make sure that a picture has an acceptable license is to take it yourself and release it to Wikipedia. Adding a History of the sport.[edit]

I am currently working on posting a history section to the longboarding page. I know that the history is pretty merged with skateboarding but it might help to let people know which came first. Kind of like the chicken vs egg issue. This Article Needs Work[edit]

LOTS of work... it needs neatening and a lot of refernces. Is anyone here interested in starting a cooperative effort to improve this article? It would be especially useful if editors who longboard themselves could pitch in. I'm doing my best but there is a lot to be done.EnglishEfternamn _*t/c* 19:27, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agree entirely! I removed a whole bunch of stuff that really shouldn't be in there about board and deck styles that really should be in the article Longboard (skateboard) if anywhere at all. As I see it, we have two articles - this one about the uses of the longboard and then Longboard (skateboard) about the board itself. There shouldn't be a lot of information in this article about the board itself, nor should the other article go into great detail about the uses of the longboard, which should be what this article is for. The same has been done for Skateboard and Skateboarding and it works well. Stalwart111 22:47, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
