Logo positioning[edit]

As Loganair trades on the British Airways logo first and foremost, with the Loganair logo on aircraft and timetables being secondary and much reduced in size (all flights are British Airways flights), the positioning of Loganair logo surely isn't important as long as it's displayed? For one not only does it mess the format, but it is inconsistent with the other British Airways franchise partners, a couple of which actually trade on their own name and logo in their own right. I really don't have much of a problem with it other than consistency and aesthetics, but when Loganair themselves place more importance on the British Airways name, I don't see it being particularly dismissive or disrespectful in any way... For the time being I've reverted it back, only because the edit to bring both BA box and logo sat awkwardly and pushed the text to one side, but any future format should be consistent with the other BA affiliates. --Ayrshire--77 09:24, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. The article is about the company Loganair. If it is really such an integral part of BA then there should not be separate articles for each Franchisee at all, they should have small sections each at the British Airways article. Are you absolutely certain that Loganair uses the BA logo "first and foremost"? What about its other contracts, mentioned in the article? The positioning of the logo is very important: it is the key symbol for the topic being presented: Loganair.
I agree that the formatting is a problem, it must be a bug in the BA Template that is pushing other images over to the left - I must have a look at that.
Regarding uniformity, there is no such requirement at Wikipedia. If this deserves to be a separate article (and it probably does) then both it and its Talk page must stand on their own two feet. If there is a wider forum at Wiki for discussing these issues, please let Users know, and we could talk there about co-ordination across articles.--Mais oui! 09:37, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
For Loganair using the BA logo first and foremost, all Loganair aircraft are in full BA livery, regardless of what duty they are actually carrying out. The Loganair logo appears only in a small form, on the nose section of the aircraft, as "Operated by...". British Airways and oneworld are it's primary marketing tools for all commercial flights, and all passenger flights are handled by British Airways themselves.
It certainly deserves it's own article, even if it was completely absorbed into BA, the historical Loganair would merit its own page regardless.
I know there's no Wikipedia requirement for consistency, and perhaps it's just me in my pedancy, but as the other affiliate airlines and the BA page itself (and its related articles, predecessors and such) has adopted a "look" then it would be nice to keep to that. Other than a Wikipedia:WikiProject Airlines existing, seeking consistency in format for all airlines articles (which Loganair conforms to, regardless of logo or placing), there is none for a BA template or the likes.
As I said above, I've got no problem with where the Loganair logo itself is placed, as long as it's displayed somewhere and as long as the BA infobox remains. My initial problem was when that was removed altogether, I believe that quite integral to the article while Loganair remains a BA franchise. As long as it stays and the article "looks nice" I'm happy (which it does just now) --Ayrshire--77 09:59, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
If anyone were to add one of the standard airline infoboxes (I can't be bothered!) on Loganair then it would be correct for that to be above the BA box... As done in the British Airways page ;) Thanks/Wangi 16:24, 20 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

punctuation[edit]

Could the author please correct :

it announced it's intention to purchase a tranche of routes

It doesn't have an apostrophe in this case. Apostrophes are only used with "it" in contractions such as "it is" or "it has".

Thanks

Fair use rationale for Image:Loganair.jpg[edit]

Image:Loganair.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:40, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Verbatim Copy of Company Website[edit]

The history section seems to be copied verbatim from the 'About Us' section on Loganair's website. For a start this may violate their copyright and secondly it means that this section of the Wikipedia is not adding anything new that a user cannot easily find elsewhere. Yes I agree. duplication detector Secretlondon (talk) 03:28, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, indeed - added to the page in October 2004! I have attempted (see below) to remove the infringing content rather than just deleting the whole earlier part of the history. Some content may need to be rewritten. If anyone notices any text similar to the 2004 version of the company's history page it should be removed, instantly, without hesitation. List of destinations[edit]

The long list of destinations served has only citation 7, i.e. the BA map of "where we fly" as evidence. But that map doesn't show all of the detinations listed on this page. As all flights are now in Flybe's colours rather than BA colours, wouldn't it make more sense to change the citation to the flybe list of destinations?

I have changed the ref to Loganair's destination page. MilborneOne (talk) 22:47, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Franchise operation[edit]

This sentence was removed by SempreVolando:

The franchise has been criticised by residents in the Scottish islands for what are perceived to be excessively high fares,[1][2] and a Facebook campaign set up in June 2015 to highlight the issue attracted over 7,400 "likes" over the course of its first weekend.[3]

on the pretext that is neither notable nor NPOV. This is an issue in which Flybe/Loganair have been frequently taken to task for in recent years, by customers, local politicians and the media. Matters have recently come to a head with a very highly publicised Facebook campaign. I stand by the entry on both terms of notability and consider the statement to be eminently neutral in its tone.

I invite other editors to comment; I'll give it 3 to 4 days, in which time if no valid objections are made - it's going back in! ShugSty (talk) 11:32, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New Image[edit]

Britten Norman Islander in Loganair livery ca. 2005.

I uploaded this free use (OGL 3.0) photo for another article (2005 Loganair Islander accident - photo is from the AAIB investigation report). I don't know if it will be helpful in this article - you decide. It's not very big, but it's the original size from the AAIB report. I believe this aircraft is in air ambulance configuration, but I won't swear to it. I do not know the tail number or the date of the photo, but it is not the accident aircraft (G-BOMG). It was first published on November 10, 2006. After that accident, Loganair had four remaining Islanders - 2 dedicated air ambulances and two for standard passenger transport. Their company website says they have two in service right now (January 2016), both convertible for passenger or cargo use. Dcs002 (talk) 00:19, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The world's shortest airline flight, taxiing at Papa Westray airport
And I just uploaded this little gem (from a kind photographer on Flickr) of a Loganair Islander in Highland Park Whisky colors for an article on the world's shortest scheduled airline flight. Hard to believe no one had made that page yet. Dcs002 (talk) 04:10, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
