songs covered but never recorded[edit]

shouldn't we include songs they covered in their early days but which were never recorded, this would give newbees a good introduction to the tastes of the beatles at the time, for example in 61 they covered love me tender, sung by bass player stu sutcliffe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.196.243.124 (talk) 23:24, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Certainly I think it would make sense to add those released on Anthology and the BBC sessions CDs, which were official releases. There are numerous bootlegs and semi-official releases with covers, of course, notably the Decca Audition songs (Besame Mucho, Three Cool Cats, etc), which might be worth adding as a separate section. Lots missing[edit]

Lennon recorded an entire album of cover songs and McCartney recorded two cover albums. Most of these songs are missing from the article. A Quest For Knowledge (talk) 22:11, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Solo covers[edit]

I don't think this article should include songs covered by the respective solo artists. It should only list songs covered by the band as a whole. I imagine it makes more sense to list solo covers in subsections of List of songs recorded by John Lennon, List of songs recorded by Paul McCartney, List of songs recorded by George Harrison, and List of songs recorded by Ringo Starr. —Gordon P. From Argentina: Is more important, the compositors that the interpreters. Example: The "Chains" compositors was Goffin and Carole King.
