List should be alphabetical[edit]

The list is not alphabetical when it comes to the continents and puts North America at the top and Africa at the bottom. More of a superior/inferior listing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.155.21.131 (talk) 23:37, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Europe: needs sectioning, for ease of use[edit]

Europe needs sectioning like the other continents, so that users can have quick reference PER COUNTRY. Currently this is not available, so for example, you could not check chains in Norway, unless you knew what companies already existed.
Yes there would be repeats, eg. Cineworld who are a chain in many countries of Europe, but that is the same for the other continents already, so fits well with the page outline already in place. Jimthing (talk) 15:28, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

page is very inaccurate[edit]

it says on page muvico only has 9 theaters... google maps shows many more listings :(

it also says amc has a certain number of theaters and then in the very next couple of lines has a much different number.

Why does the Cinemark link point to the Carmike article and vice versa? Shouldn't this have been corrected by now? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.44.52.100 (talk) 17:43, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion criteria[edit]

Another user has highlighted that there do not appear to be any inclusion criteria specified for this page. If this discussion has already been had, can someone point me to it? Assuming there are not any criteria determined by consensus so far, I suggest that any of the following would qualify:

  1. The chain has their own Wikipedia article
  2. The chain operates or operated at least 100 screens
  3. The chain has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject
  4. At least one of the chain's individual theaters is independently notable enough (ie historic) to meet the WP:GNG

Rave cinema chain broken up and sold[edit]

Rave chain was comprised of 'new' Rave and 'old' Rave ‘new’ Rave screens were acquired using different capital entity and managed by 'old' Rave in its entirety. Recently the entire Rave chain (old and new) was broken up and sold "new' Rave screens were sold to AMC and Carmike (CKEC ). Rave owners decided to sell the entity broken into two as they got great price from AMC (Chinese) for newer and real nice theaters; Carmike bought rest of 'new' Rave theaters. CNK/Century under agreement to buy ‘old’ Rave, which managed all of “new” Rave screens. Owners didn’t want to sell old and new together – too messy with mgmt K’s — Preceding unsigned comment added by Value professor (talkcontribs) 00:29, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No movie theaters in Egypt!?[edit]

I feel like this article suggests that we don't have movie theaters in Egypt. At the same time I have no list of all of them in Egypt. By the way, as of 2013, there are 2 IMAX movie theaters in Egypt. Still, the article would lack information about movie theaters in other places in the world. --Mahmudmasri (talk) 02:54, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

North America[edit]

The list for North America includes two-letter codes to denote states and provinces, which are derprecated on Wikipedia, as many readers from outside the region will not know what these signify. These should be spelt out in full and wikilinked where appropriate, as should the cities. Skinsmoke (talk) 05:11, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Should it be changed to movie theatre instead of movie theater[edit]

Most US movie house chain companies (AMC, Regal and others) use theatre — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:5C3:201:57D3:D432:ACFA:3106:686D (talk) 19:41, 11 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Movie Tavern[edit]

I just want to mention that Southern Theaters (listed under Americas > United States) no longer owns Movie Tavern. There's a lot of info linked to that and I don't know if I'd be able to accurately change it, but I'm just making it known because that would obviously affect Southern Theater's screen/location count, and raise someone else's. 72.200.41.128 (talk) 05:51, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to Global List Section[edit]

I removed the date reference in the prefacing phrase because present tense already implies current data.

Also, the list now includes AMC based on data found in its article. They stand at odds with the data in the US section of this article, so I may stand further correction on them. Facial (talk) 12:32, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The entry for Wanda is now updated too. The last entry presumably ranked it based on its possession of AMC. Recent events have changed this premise. The data uses the corporate website. Facial (talk) 09:12, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
