Add Section for Extinct Land Carnivores[edit]

I think given a title like this it is reasonable to expect to find extinct animals here (eg. large carnivorous arkhosaurs) I certainly came here expecting to find extinct species. Given this I propose we should split this article into two sections, a section for extant carnivores, and a section for extinct carnivores, and to add to that latter list. Lots of wrong information![edit]

The largest Tiger ever was 423kg and that is confirmed and undisputed. Also the average weight of the animals is incorrect. The 375kg lion was not found in the wild but in captivity and was indeed not confirmed.

Please correct this information, I have reputable sources (studies and research papers) to give you correct information 27.97.249.40 (talk) 13:29, 4 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Let's have the sources then. Exact cites please. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 17:52, 4 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What's the issue with the expansions?[edit]

@SilverTiger12 and Ishan87: You two are edit-warring and not discussing. Specifically, I would like to hear what SilverTiger12's specific objection to the list expansions are? I'm not a fan of these "biggest/heaviest/meanest" lists in general because they frankly attract ill-informed editing, but I do not see a discussion (much less a consensus) anywhere that this list needs to be limited to ten entries. Or for that matter, that List of largest land carnivorans cannot have a column with distribution maps. If there is no existing consensus to point to and you insist that changes be discussed, you need to start a discussion and provide your reasons. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 07:47, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This page is missing the Kodiak Brown Bear[edit]

The Kodiak bear is up to 1,656 lb in size and larger than a Polar bear

Liger without Tigon[edit]

Why is the Liger listed, but not the Tigon, when the two are different, and have different sizes, with the Tigon still being larger than some of the other carnivores on the list? It doesn't make sense! Either both should be listed, or neither (as they both hybrids which only exist in captivity)? FillsHerTease (talk) 02:11, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
