Images[edit]

Why all of a sudden are the images a problem on this page? They've been here since the article and now someone wants them gone because of how they look on their browser?? They don't cause any problems in my browserS (IE, FF, Opera or Safari). I think the images should be left alone, as they were. -- ALLSTAR ECHO 00:24, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't support the smaller image size. I understand that one user (User:Moe Epsilon has some issues, but the smaller thumbs are impossible to see. -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 13:04, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Dusty Springfield in 1966.jpg[edit]

The image Image:Dusty Springfield in 1966.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Question: Do you have a WP:RS that says Stucker was gay? From his wikipedia page and this non-RS blog you've cited so far, neither explicitly says he was homosexual or bisexual, just that he had AIDS Cannolis (talk) 00:58, 21 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Additonal LGBT celebrities Sj-Sz[edit]

Kristen Stewart needs to be added to this page. She is bisexual. Born 1990. Actress. http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/who-alicia-cargile-kristen-stewarts-5881700. Other sources can confirm that she has dated both men and women.

Amandla Stenberg also needs to be added. Bisexual. Born 1998. Actress. http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/09/living/amandla-stenberg-bisexual-identity-feat/index.html Other sources can confirm. Came out 1/11/16 through Teen Vogue. 67.4.143.85 (talk) 00:34, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Partly done: I have added Amandla Stenberg but not Kristen Stewart. The mirror is not the most reliable source and all the others that come up with Google are gossip sites. The only reliable source I found mentioning it was this one which states that "[she] refused to define herself as gay or straight", therefore she should not be added to this list. Amandla Stenberg's sexuality should be changed from "B" to "G" because she recently came out as gay in an interview with Wonderland Magazine. (https://www.wonderlandmagazine.com/2018/06/18/amandla-stenberg-wonderland/) Gkjohnson34 (talk) 19:09, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A reliable source, such as a news story written by a journalist and published in a newspaper about it, not a tweet. Bearcat (talk) 16:24, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Spacey’s own statement about his sexuality would only be repeated by other sources as...his own statement. He should be considered a reliable source on this. I find it incredibly difficult to access this page so will leave it others to take it from here. Gleeanon409 (talk) 16:42, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Even if the tweet represents the person's own statement about themselves, we still can't source stuff to tweets — they're automatically less valuable sources precisely because they're tweets. Reliable sources picking up on and writing about the tweet are always still preferred over sourcing anything directly to the tweet itself, specifically because tweets actually can be fairly easily faked, hacked or deleted. Bearcat (talk) 18:03, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

von Steuben[edit]

Steuben is one of my favorites, and a person I actually believe was gay. But I cannot find any evidence supporting that notion in the citations given.

Lockhart 2010 says that von Steuben was accused of being a pederast (p. 42), and discusses the claims that von Steuben was gay. His conclusion is: "There is little to prove one or the other." "Whether Steuben was homosexual or heterosexual, or asexual, for that matter, may never be known with any certainty" (p. 204). This shows the difficulty of establishing the sexual orientation of persons in the past. While once, everything that smelled "deviation" was suppressed by biographers, today many writers as well as Wikipedia editors is trying to make as many famous persons as possible non-heterosexuals.

On the cited page 707, Kapp 1859 has an Appendix: General return of the number of men whose time of enlistment expire before the first day of July, 1780. This, and the above discussed citation, cannot have been added in good faith; it's a falsification in support of the claim of the unreliable source discussed below.

The last citation contains a claim that Steuben had a 17-year-old lover. It's a gay blog with a tendency, that doesn't bother to show any sources. Wikipedia guidelines states that: Articles should be based on reliable, independent, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. The blog doesn't fulfill any of these criteria.

In conclusion, Steuben should be removed from this list. Weatherford (talk) 12:09, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The cited source says the following: Though Sulla married Valeria he still associated with actresses and female lute-players and dancers, [Pg 381]spending his time with them on beds, and drinking from an early hour of the day. These were the names of the persons who at this time enjoyed most of his favour:—Roscius[299] the comedian, Sorix the chief mimus, and Metrobius who played women's parts[300] in men's dress, and to whom, though Metrobius was now growing old, Sulla all along continued strongly attached, and never attempted to conceal it. He had sex with both women and men. The Wikipedia article about him claims that he had been married five times, with several children.

I am changing the classification from G to B. Weatherford (talk) 22:26, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
