French deputy commanding officers[edit]

The most recent announcement, of Jean Laurentin taking temporary command of the division until a full time GOC is appointed in September, references Hervé Bizeul doing so: "The British Army’s 1st (United Kingdom) Division is to be led by a French Brigadier General for the second time ... He is stepping up from his role as Deputy Commander of 1st (UK) Division, mirroring the temporary appointment of Brigadier General Hervé Bizeul in similar circumstances five years ago - a first for the British Army." Somewhere in the command of either Wooddisse and Weir?

I could not find anything on the division's twitter, the MOD website, or other sources that stated he became acting commander. Everything, other than this announcement, just seems to reference him being one of two deputy commanders and that is that. The Express explains that he was appointed as one of the two deputy commanders and specified that the British deputy commander would take over the GOC role if the divisional commander was incapacitated, especially in a time of war. If anyone finds something, especially a date of when he became acting GOC, we can add him in and note that he was the first French chap to command the division, even if it was on a temporary basis.EnigmaMcmxc (talk) 06:09, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good. I have started an article on Laurentin. Dormskirk (talk) 07:56, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
