This article needs to say how "city" is defined in Argentina as there is a great deal of variation around the world. CalJW 03:19, 29 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen 2 main standars: 50,000 and 20,000 inhabitants. But then, there are cities (or towns) with less inhabitants that can be more relevant (say, because of tourism) than other bigger ones. For instance, in Río Negro Province, El Bolsón (pop. 15,537) is far better known and relevant than, say Cinco Saltos (pop. 19,819). A rule of thumb could be everything with more than 50 thousands, and other well known places.

I'd bold the capitals and alphabetize the sublists. Also, the largest cities list may be confusing for the reader since in many cases the population cited is actually the population of the whole metropolitan area. Buenos Aires is set apart, and in other cases there might be no big difference (Rosario and Córdoba are quite fine), but Mendoza and Greater Mendoza are two very different things (Mendoza proper, as defined by municipal boundaries, has only ~120,000 inhabitants). I suggest we tell the reader explicitly what we're referring to, or better, cite both the proper population and the metropolitan one. Maybe also we should move Gran Buenos Aires over its redirect Greater Buenos Aires, no? That seems to be more or less the norm. --Pablo D. Flores (Talk) 01:51, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Links for lists of La Rioja and Cordoba cities link to Spain provinces with the same name. TrentLane 04:47, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List definition?[edit]

As said above, for example article for Mendoza has the population for city around 110,000 and metropolitan area about 850,000. The 1.1 million figure in the list is nowhere in the city article. 85.217.45.223 (talk) 02:44, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
