Daniel Day-Lewis deserves top priority among 3-times winners[edit]

Among the 5 thespians who have won 3 times, Daniel Day-Lewis is the only one to have won all as Best Actor/Actress. Winning an Oscar for Best Actor is a greater accomplishment than winning in a supporting role. It is therefore not proper to list him beneath the 3 individuals who won only twice in their categories for lead role, with their third win being in a supporting role. It appears that the rationale behind why this was done is because they received more nominations than Lewis. But the number of nominations is irrelevant when compared to the number of wins. How many times they lost the Oscar should not get them into a higher spot than the person who won as lead.

So the proper default listing of this table would be to have Daniel Day-Lewis listed second, behind Kate Hepburn. He should be listed as first among the 3-times winners. -- Lexi sioz (talk) 22:41, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, this change has now been made. And applying the same reasoning to the 2-times winners, that part of the table has been adjusted as well. Then after that change was made, the table was then reordered so that a chronological sequence is presented among those with the same number of nominations. I hope everyone can see the validity of this new ordering. If anyone holds that an Oscar given for a supporting role deserves to be given equal weight to an Oscar given for a lead role, I will be very interested to hear the rationale for that. -- Lexi sioz (talk) 23:17, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Emil Jannings should be added[edit]

Sort not working[edit]

Using the sort button on the Best Actor column should list wins in that column; i.e. 4wins followed by 3wins followed by 2wins, etc. Unfortunately the sort yields some people with 2 wins intermingled with some with 2. Anyway, not a big deal, but annoying if you're making a list of people who won exactly 3 "Best Actor" awards. N0w8st8s (talk) 04:55, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
