Unsourced, speculative content[edit]

@B103N48: Twice, including here, you've restored content that contravenes our core policy, WP:CRYSTAL. Any film that has been announced, but that you cannot prove has begun principal photography, should be removed. Any redlinked film for which there is no reference that proves filming has begun, should be removed. Any film for which an article already exists, should be checked to see if principal photography has begun. If there is no proof of filming, it should be removed from the list and someone should challenge the article at WP:AFD or redirect it to a tangential subject, like a director's article.

Wikipedia does not endeavor to list every Tamil film in the world, only notable ones, and if notability has not been adequately demonstrated (see WP:NFF), the film should be removed. Notability is typically demonstrated when a film has an article that has shown that it has begun filming. Note also that when you restore unsourced content that someone else has challenged, per WP:BURDEN, the burden is on you to provide references for that material. That is part of our verfiability policy. If you don't do that, you are in contravention of this policy. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:17, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Out of the movies listed there, majority of the movies are already completed and ready for release.. Most of the films are in various stages of filming.. If you wanna remove a film that is only announced that can be done.. But removing the entire list is complete stupidity.
Ur mentioned core policy says only the imagination articles shouldn't be there.. All the movies in the list are true, which are in various stages of filming and in news regularly.. Check the policies before talking.. Hardly some 10 films that haven't started filming .. For that u can't remove the entire article.. B103N48 (talk) 19:24, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Most of the future content in that list is presently unsuitable for inclusion per the policies cited above. Though parts of WP:CRYSTAL speak specifically about article creation, the core principal, is that information about a future event that can't be substantiated, should not be included. The policy does say that "All articles about anticipated events must be verifiable". If this list article attempts to catalogue events that have not occurred, those anticipated events must be verifiable. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:39, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
IMV, the entire section does not belong on this page. This is specifically for films of 2020, if a film doesn't have a confirmed release date (or even a started filming date), it should not belong here. Perhaps a new article, like "List of Tamil films in production" or "List of upcoming Tamil films" would be a better place for the information. BOVINEBOY2008 21:37, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Bovineboy2008: But even in that event, unsourced content about a future event (an unreleased film) should not exist in an article per WP:CRYSTAL, since we must demonstrate it a real film, not some fabricated title. And per editing norms mentioned at WP:FILMOGRAPHY, we typically don't include announced films, only films that can be proven to have begun filming, since anything can derail a plan. Certainly, something in pre-production should not be listed (rarely should even in an article unless notable), but there is something to be said about films that are in active filming, or even those that are completed and awaiting release. Certainly those films could never be released, and we can handle those on a case-by-case basis. In either case, they should not be in this article. Only those with confirmed release dates in 2020 (past or future), as that is what this article is for. Films that don't have a release date, or those confirmed for later years, should not be in this article. BOVINEBOY2008 19:52, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No disagreement from me. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:47, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@B103N48: If you are gonna argue with editors then why don't you check other Indian films articles such as List of Telugu films of 2020, List of Malayalam films of 2020, List of Bollywood films of 2020, List of Kannada films of 2020. If you look at these articles they do not have upcoming films unless there is still a scheduled date that has not been changed by the producers. SP013 (talk) 22:45, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@SP013. U dumbass, go see the edit history of the wiki pages u mentioned, all where in the same format before which were all changed by the user who changed this.. Look twice before blaming anyone.. If I have less than 200 edits, doesn't mean I don't have rights to edit or talk or less knowledge on wikipedia. Talk only respect to the issue, and you have no rights to speak about my personal things, shut everything and keep quiet.
And for others who argue for article verification, I m telling you all the films are real and happening.. And appearing in the news.. It's not possible to source everything. Only non happening articles have to be removed as per policies. Don't be ignorant. Where all u have been for a these years.. To my knowledge this format is followed for more than 5 years in tamil wiki pages. Don't cause disruption to it B103N48 (talk) 04:22, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And for certain films in released section there are no references or sources. Then as per policies that also shouldn't be there rite??. Why are allowing them.. Delete them alsoo.. B103N48 (talk) 04:26, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
1) Learn to indent your replies so that editors understand which comment you're responding to. I have fixed this for you. See Help:Talk_pages#Indentation. 2) The both of you need to avoid personal attacks. 3) Just because a problem exists at one article doesn't mean that we should leave a problem in another article. There is no prerequisite that all other problems be resolved before the issues pertaining to this discussion are resolved. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:30, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@B103N48: Any explanation for re-addition of the content here while the discussion is still gooing on. Sid95Q (talk) 07:08, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@B103N48:, @Sid95Q: I undid his edits as he is not following Wikipedia rules. Do not change until a consensus has been reached. Also Sid95Q only added empty boxes for those films to be added on later, he did not add any films after June. The only upcoming film he added was Penguin which is scheduled to release digitally on Prime Video on June 19 on the Telugu and Tamil pages, Law on June 26 and French Biryani on July 24 which will both be released on Prime Video on the Kannada page and the only thing left on the Bollywood page are films that still have a scheduled release date in the upcoming months and producers have not announced that they are postponed. Notable deaths / Upcoming films[edit]

Has there been any consensus on where we can place this information? Is there any further reasoning on why this has been suddenly removed? Neutral Fan (talk) 14:10, 5 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notable deaths could be mentioned at 2020 in film. BOVINEBOY2008 23:09, 5 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. You need to provide sources, and you need to provide sufficient information that someone can fill table entries in properly. –Deacon Vorbis (carbon • videos) 14:42, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Web series[edit]

@Neutral Fan: This list is specifically of "Films" not for web series etc no matter how "high profile" they are. You could create a new page for them as they have enough sources to create notability. Sid95Q (talk) 05:23, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
