To South African Artists and Art Educators[edit]

I deleted the following text from the article, where it does not belong. Dricherby (talk) 17:08, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is a pressing need to create a body of accurate data relating to South African artists. Insufficient published material is presently available in the marketplace and many treasures risk being lost to posterity due to a lack of purposeful recording of noteworthy creative work. Artists and art educators are therefore urged to use this free wikipedia site as a means of submitting, storing and editing such information as would benefit fellow artists, educators, art students, historians, collectors and critics. All artists who have been nationally or internationally recognized for their contributions to South Africa’s robust fine art or craft traditions are asked to contribute articles (including a few images, if at all possible) relating to their lives and works. In time, an effective online resource could thus be developed which would assist in affirming and preserving South Africa's art and craft heritage.

Lists of names[edit]

Lists of names in this article should be sourced in accordance with WP:BLP. As there is no way of constantly maintaining linked articles, this applies to names which have a Wikipedia article as well as those that do not. Any name listed with no verifiable citations should be removed. Refer to WP:NLIST for guidance. (talk) 14:21, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:LISTPEOPLE, if they have a Wikipedia article they are generally proven notable so no additional sourcing should be required. Of course, those artists without a Wikipedia article will need convincing sources or get removed. Sionk (talk) 02:50, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
