Redlinked entries[edit]

This article has a number of redlinked entries which I am in the process of removing. The Wikipedia:LISTPEOPLE article has a section 'Common selection criteria', which states that each entry must meet the Wikipedia notability guideline. Notability can be established if the subject has a wikipedia page, or if that entry is cited with a reference. It is insufficient to have a references section at the bottom of the page, but no references on individual entries.

If you look at other pages in Category:Lists of writers by nationality, you will see that most have few to no redlinks because of this criteria.

Now you can start writing your articles? Write well, but you do not delete the names. Doncsecztalk 17:14, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have waited several months to see if the sourcing improved before removing uncited redlinks. There are still many unsourced entries, which I have now removed. This removal is in line with wikipedia guidelines for lists, as linked above. Dialectric (talk) 10:33, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You do not understand, that this is not a fast process? Some writers are still missing the datas (date of birth or death). As this list also have large gaps. Doncsecztalk 08:53, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is an issue of wikipedia policy. Lists of people should not contain uncited redlinked entries. Wikipedia:LISTPEOPLE is clear on this. If you feel that this policy is wrong, you should discuss it on the listpeople page. I will continue to remove uncited redlinks, not just to enforce policy, but because many of the redlink names you keep adding are likely not notable, the entries create a cluttered and overlong list, and readers can't find any additional information about the people. As soon as you create the relevant articles for each person, feel free to re-add that name. Dialectric (talk) 12:56, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The datas give account about this writers, but unknown the important dates. For ex. István Gecler was lived in Krašči, but unknown his dates of birth and death. On the other hand i have possibility to find in Pertoča. Doncsecztalk 16:27, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As you point out, List of Slovenian composers similarly does not meet Wikipedia:LISTPEOPLE guidelines. I have been focusing on cleaning up pages of writers because there have been redlink names added to some pages for (self) promotional reasons. Self-promotion seems somehow less likely for composers, but that list page should still be cleaned up as well. Dialectric (talk) 13:01, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

But here the program is continuosly, i wrote the article (today 4 new articles). No deleted the names, as this is datas how much writers was in Hungary. In other lists nobody wrote articles. Doncsecztalk 16:20, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Doncsecz, adding articles for authors not already on wikipedia is a good way to expand this article. Re-adding redlinked names is not, for reasons I explain above. You can keep the names on a user page if you want, but they should not stay in the article. Please remove the redlinks you have re-added. If you do not, I think this will have to go to the Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard. Dialectric (talk) 19:36, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

But the datas is still useful, as give names, who they were exactly the Slovene writers in Hungary. Doncsecztalk 19:42, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Names with no dates, no wikipedia article, and no reference listed will not be useful to most editors. If you want to move the redlinked names to the talk page, that would also work. As I said above, they should not stay in the article. Have you read and do you understand the Wikipedia:LISTPEOPLE guideline which i linked to back in June? Dialectric (talk) 03:18, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

For ex. A list of victims, where not datas also important, as few person is unknown. Doncsecztalk 06:42, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Again, Redlinks[edit]

Per wikipedia policy, lists of people should not contain uncited redlinked entries. Please read Wikipedia:LISTPEOPLE. Dialectric (talk) 21:46, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Dialectric. LISTPEOPLE is pretty clear on this, and the verifiability policy also says that information which has been challenged must be sourced or removed. — TransporterMan (TALK) | DR goes to Wikimania! 22:28, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Red links, third time[edit]

Whoever continues to add these links should stop. I will be watching this page. Yworo (talk) 18:13, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
