Rangers War Time Records[edit]

I think it is about time Rangers Records and Statistics Wikipedia page was edited to allow War records to be acknowledged. Personally think it is wrong not to have them included. I'm mainly meaning for the Record Appearances and Record Goal Scorers column. Although stats differ from Wikipedia to 'Rangers Fitba Stats' page. http://www.fitbastats.com/rangers/player_records_overall.php Thoughts? TheGlasgaeJimmy (talk) 13:52, 6 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Barry Ferguson[edit]

I see the article used to say that Barry Ferguson is Rangers' record appearance maker in Europe with 82 apps, but I don't see where this figure came from. According to Transfermarkt, which I know isn't fully reliable according to Wikipedia's standards but which I trust anyway, he only ever played 78 times in Europe. Gersnet also claims that Ferguson played 82 times in Europe, but considering the wording there is exactly the same as a previous version of this article, I hesitate to take their word for it. By my reckoning, Allan McGregor is Rangers' most experienced player in Europe now, having played 80 times for the Gers in UEFA competitions, according to Soccer Association. – PeeJay 13:42, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

FitbaStats has 82 for Ferguson and 80 for McGregor (including last night)... I had a look at the discrepancy and unfortunately TM has attributed 1 appearance made by Ian Ferguson in 1996 (champions league v Juventus) to Barry and mistakenly given Ian one that Barry played in (beitar 1998, Ian missed the second leg), and for some reason has ignored 4 early qualifiers in that season (paok and shelbourne). So the accidental Ian matches cancel each other out and then the 4 missing are those early ones. Crowsus (talk) 16:04, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Crowsus: Ah excellent, thanks Crowsus. I wasn't aware of FitbaStats, but I'll keep them in mind. I actually got in touch with the Rangers Museum today and he confirmed the figures of 82 for Ferguson and 80 for McGregor. Seems like McGregor will break Ferguson's record on MD5 against Standard Liege then, assuming he doesn't get injured. – PeeJay 16:25, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
