Removing section[edit]

This is a list, not an article. The Controversy section is not appropriate. For reference if moving into a article:

The decision in 2010 to include Rachel's Tomb and the Cave of the Patriarchs, sparked protests from the UN, Arab governments and the United States. Fatah accused Netanyahu's government of attempting to "wreck international efforts aimed at returning to (peace) talks". A State Department spokesman criticized the move as provocative and unhelpful.[3][4] In what was seen as a response, Arab governments succeeded later in the year to win a UNESCO Executive Board vote which declared that: "The Palestinian sites of al-Haram al-Ibrahimi/Tomb of the Patriarchs in al-Khalil/Hebron and the Bilal bin Rabah Mosque/Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem are reaffirmed as forming an integral part of the occupied Palestinian Territories and that any unilateral action by the Israeli authorities is to be considered a violation of international law, the UNESCO Conventions and the United Nations and Security Council resolutions."[5] Israel criticised "the attempt to detach the Nation of Israel from its heritage" as "absurd".

It seems to be an article about a list. 109.64.142.189 (talk) 18:25, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete list?[edit]

For sure this is a very partial and incomplete list. I have not found (yet) a definitive up-to-date source to complete this list, but there is a list which gives some idea of the numbers of sites involved at http://www.kh-uia.org.il/Es/Supportisrael/RestorationofNationalHeritageSites/Paginas/National-Heritage-Sites-Full-List-es.aspx. There is also the issue of definitions: Israeli declared national heritage sites, world heritage sites in Israel, national parks etc. Can anyone help improve this? Qumran[edit]

For the record, the Qumran Caves are not "in the national borders of Israel" either, but I'll leave it to someone more ideologically absolutist to change it if they want.
