Update In Progress[edit]

As this page was woefully out of date (hadn't been updated in detail since Alara block), I'm going through an effort to work on this page. I've updated all of the artists that were previously present, and have begun what will be a very slow process to add artists who first appeared after the last major update. If you have a favorite artist, please feel free to ensure that they are added.

Also, please feel free to add/update links to the artists' pages as I have not been doing that and do not currently have plans to do so.

Artist's websites[edit]

I added some references to artist's websites, but wonder whether it is a good idea. When WotC published a similar list on their website many people liked it a lot. Therefore I added the column. If it is in strong violation of any Wikipedia best practice please drop a note here. OdinFK (talk) 16:13, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This page looks great, User:OdinFK.. Awesome job :) --Mjrmtg (talk) 16:38, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks a lot. I'm not so convinced with the look yet, but I hope some people enjoy the artworks of Magic, too, so that the page will be some help to them... OdinFK (talk) 16:57, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Mark Poole's address no longer works :(.... I did however find via a search an email for him. I was thinking about trying to get a set of Antiquities Urzatron signed... Tedin is easy to contact and does signings so my Power Plants should be fine, Poole I have an email for so cross our fingers on Tower, and Sadly Anson Maddocks, If anyone has contact info for him I'd love to have it as I would like to get my Mines signed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.239.148.2 (talk) 01:57, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, John Allsop's link is bah-roken. Just FYI! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.107.72.243 (talk) 03:43, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Userfied list[edit]

In case anybody reads this before this list gets deleted: I have userfied it at User:OdinFK/List of Magic: The Gathering artists. So if you like this list for any reason "bookmark" that adress. OdinFK (talk) 21:21, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

updating[edit]

Been updating artists who have worked since KLD. Sorting by fewest pieces first I got to Greg Opalinski. Any help would be appreciated, particularly on new artist from AER onwards. --Snafu66 19:42, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

Update in progress (again)[edit]

As one may imagine, this page is once again out of date. I'm going to try to fix that by going through the card gatherer (alphabetically probably). I won't be adding any notes or artist websites, but it would be greatly appreciated if somebody else could try to cover that. If there is any problem with using only the gatherer then you should let me know. PieThrowerChamp (talk) 15:18, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sort by first or last name[edit]

The table currently has inconsistent sorting, as some names are sorted using the given name and others are sorted using the surname. I'm reorganizing the table to sort by first name, but if there is a good reason to do otherwise I can change that. One other option is have two separate columns for first and last name, though I personally think that that would not look very good. PieThrowerChamp (talk) 23:05, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Artist bio[edit]

For those that want to create articles about artists, there's a brief bio of Melissa Benson in Inquest Gamer issue 17. Mindmatrix 21:14, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Automated list[edit]

I have generated a list of artists, dates, and the like based on the scryfall bulk data feed here: http://mrraow.com/uploads/mtgartists/artist_a_to_z.html which I'll try to keep up to date. Hope you find it useful! Happy to modify the report if it makes it easier for you all to maintain this page. Mrraow (talk) 09:45, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
