Mis-titled paged or erroneous material[edit]

The majority of information here relates to vandalism, not "attacks" or "assaults". So the the name of the page should be more broadly entitled "incidents", or all of the vandalism type incidents should be removed. Plot Spoiler (talk) 14:30, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Better still. The ADL begs to differ with you. See http://www.adl.org/israel-international/israel-middle-east/content/backgroundersarticles/price-tag-attacks.html here.Nishidani (talk) 15:04, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
So what? It's still not accurate. Graffiti is not an "attack". It's basic logic. Plot Spoiler (talk) 15:07, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
"Price tag attacks"=361,000 hits vs."price tag incidents" 43,400 results. It's your judgement again, that this is an inaccurate term. Most terms in newspapers are inaccurate, beginning with 'terrorist', etc. Logic has little to do with customary usage or journalistic shorthand. 'Incident' would not cover devastating assaults on private property and livelihoods, being in that case an indefinite euphemism that spans every meaning from 'something that happened' to a 'military incident' with grievous results. I selected a non-violent event from the article at random, "18 June 2013. 'Arabs out' graffiti were sprayed and tires of 28 cars slashed at Abu Ghosh", and had a look at the language used by the source.
  • Ynet article - "Two days after cabinet approves new sanctions against 'price tag' vandals, Arab village near Jerusalem comes under yet another attack: car tires slashed, hate graffiti sprayed...The tires of 28 cars in the Arab village of Abu Ghosh near Jerusalem were slashed early Tuesday morning. Graffiti reading "racism or assimilation" and "Arabs out" was sprayed on nearby walls...This is the latest in a line of attacks..."
So, we know it is possible for sources to use the term 'attack' to describe these kind of actions in this context. Sean.hoyland - talk 16:05, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
