Hamilton[edit]

Hamilton Tigers ought to be counted with Hamilton Tiger Cats in the table. The Tiger Cats were the Tigers until 1950 when the Flying Wild Cats merged into the franchise. This is similar to the NHL merger between Minnesota North Stars and Cleveland Barons, people don't view the post-merger North Stars as a different team. The only difference between the post=merger Hamilton and Minnesota teams is that in Hamilton, the team name was changed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donutcity (talkcontribs) 18:12, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with this as well. The team does own the name rights and franchise history to both the Tigers & the Wildcats, so there is a strong case to be made to include both the Wildcat and Tiger histories under the Tiger Cat name. At least 1 of the franchises should be included, to reflect the continuity of the team in Hamilton

That is up to the franchise, not Wikipedia.198.161.2.211 (talk) 17:16, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information tables[edit]

The Win/Lost Pct is a percentage, not a ratio. It is known throughout sports as a win percentage, even though it is a quotient rounded to three decimal places. A ratio would be more like a fraction, 2:1 or two wins for every one loss.

The scoring records ought to be left on the page. This information isn't included on any other pages. If it shouldn't be on this page, someone could start a new page with Grey Cup records. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Donutcity (talkcontribs) 10:42, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Scoring records do not belong here. They are better placed at the main Grey Cup article. -- Scorpion0422 16:11, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you put them there yourself instead of just deleting them?Donutcity (talk) 19:28, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You're not from the Prairies are you? It worth note how many times Frank Clair hosted the Grey Cup. The Super Bowl page has all kinds of info. Do we want the Super Bowl page to be better than the Grey Cup page? A breakdown of cities by host shows that usually the game is in Toronto, if not the rest of Ontario or Vancouver. The cities whose teams have the most cup appearances have hosted the fewest cups. Just because you don't care doesn't mean no one else does. Could you please make a better argument before you delete this information?Donutcity (talk) 19:32, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I think this page is far better than the List of Super Bowl champions. The table is more efficient and less of an eyesore and there are no unsourced statistics. You should also note that a table noting host cities is not included. And again, the table is sortable, so one can just sort by the cities column and then find out exactly when the game was hosted that city, who won, etc. Such information falls under the category of trivia and not overly relevant to the topic. And, to counter your argument, "Just because you care doesn't mean anyone else does." -- Scorpion0422 19:53, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Super Bowl has its host city information on the main Super Bowl page. Altho anyone can sort the list to see where the game was hosted, it is a list of over 100 rows, so it is not the most effective for quick reference. The tables are about 10 rows and are much quicker to read for specific information. The list of champions is a really great table tho, yes. If it is so easy to sort the list, then the win/lost tables should be deleted as well because "the table is sortable, so one can just sort by the cities column and then find out exactly" who won or lost.Donutcity (talk) 22:26, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Grey Cup combinations that havent happened yet[edit]

the only Grey Cup match-ups that haven't happened yet, out of the classic nine teams, are:

1. Winnipeg Vs. Montreal

2. BC Vs. Ottawa--74.237.54.62 (talk) 19:14, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

BC has yet to play Calgary, Edmonton and Saskatchewan. Within the crossover format, those match-ups are possible. The two match-ups listed are specific to inter-division.Donutcity (talk) 22:31, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Interestingly, Winnipeg made 7 Grey Cup appearances while in the East Division, and played all the other western teams at least once, so they have played everyone else in the league (save the RedBlacks) for the Grey Cup, a claim no other team can make. I've added colour coding to the lists, since Canadian football fans make so much of East vs. West, and I've also added two rows to the active teams win/loss records, to reflect Winnipeg in the East and in the West, in addition to the sum total. 198.161.2.211 (talk) 17:22, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Colours[edit]

Per Accessibility guidelines:

Links should clearly be identifiable as a link to our readers.
Some readers of Wikipedia are partially or fully color-blind. Ensure the contrast of the text with its background reaches at least WCAG 2.0's AA level.

One must be able to read the text. Having dark text on dark backgrounds or red/green on dark backgrounds is not easily readable.

Again per guidelines:

In no case should the resulting font size drop below 85% of the page fontsize

There were two <small> tags in a row contained in the article. This makes text 70% of normal, which is extremely hard to read.

The Super Bowl champions article contains exactly two colours. They meet the guidelines. They do not clutter up the article.

Additionally, this article is a Featured List. You can tell this by the gold star in the upper-right hand corner of the article. Featured Lists adhere to even more stringent guidelines. Bgwhite (talk) 22:13, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
