Untitled[edit]

Are these channels by Ethnic Channels Group really Canadian channels or are they foreign channels that ECG has the Canadian distributing rights to such as Asian Television Network has the Canadian distributing rights for SET Asia.

o Abu Dhabi TV Canada (Arabic)
         o Mabuhay Channel Canada (Filipino)
o The Israeli Network Canada (Jewish)
         o NTV Canada (Russian)
         o RTVi Canada (Russian)
         o RTVi Plus Canada (Russian)
         o CH 5 Canada (Ukrainian)
         o SBTN Canada (Vietnamese)
  • NTV Canada is the only channel that I know for sure is actually Canadian, as for the others are they foreign channels or not?
All ECG channels are Canadian. They are CRTC-licensed Category 2 digital channels. They feature programming from the foreign service that the channel is named after. I assume that ECG named them like this perhaps so people are tricked into believing they are the 'real thing', so as to get people to subscribe. Unfortunately they are not, they have CDN content. Re-organization of the list[edit]

I re-organized the list of channels, grouping them by genre. I think it looks much better this way and matches the corresponding list of U.S. channels that are organized in this same way. Any objections, please post comments here first so that we can discuss them before making any changes to the page. Thanks. HeMan5 00:50, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree this is a much better way to organize the article, the previous way was almost the same article as the list of Canadian television channels article. But..... do we really need the heading "Gender and sexual orientation-specific"? I think the channels listed here should just be added to the "Lifestyles" heading. 74.109.62.238 15:22, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done! I was just following the US chart for the layout, I didn't really like organizing these channels like that either. I was going to put them in the lifestyle section as you suggested but then decided to do it like that and see how it looks. In the U.S. there are more channels for each of those sections (Men, Women, Gay & Lesbian) so it looks better but here there is only one for each section and it didn't look good. In any event, they are now merged into the lifestyle section. Glad you like the new layout, hope someone who objects doesn't come and change it back. HeMan5 16:49, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
