DYK[edit]

I started this article and noticed there exists a hell of a lot of book reviews for the individual books of the series. This article can be show cased in the DYK section of the Main Page if someone takes the effort of paraphrasing the reviews. I am happy to do the menial tasks of collating the reviews from JSTOR but have got no clue with the paraphrasing part.

So ping some of our more active contributors to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Classical music: Gerda Arendt, Francis Schonken, DavidRF and Smerus. Solomon7968 20:59, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Seems worthwhile, but I have no spare time at present, see my talk, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:04, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I would suggest this article would be better as a list. Have mentioned this on the the WikiProject page. --Smerus (talk) 13:27, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Also these books are not by the people mentioned - they are the editors. And they should be given in format 'Name Surname', not 'Surname, Name'.--Smerus (talk) 11:42, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Now reformatted and renamed.--Smerus (talk) 12:53, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Francis Schonken: - thanks for your help here.--Smerus (talk) 20:29, 24 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tool[edit]

To whom it may concern I wonder of the feasibility of creating a tool, specially meant for book series such as this, which will return search queries for a fixed phrase (such as "The Cambridge Companion to") and a variable set (which in this case are the corresponding Special:RecentChangesLinked/List of Cambridge Companions to Music).

Basically I am thinking of something like User:Edward/Find link tool which runs parallely. Solomon7968 16:07, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Move back?[edit]

I completed creating Help:What links here for this article/list. See Special:WhatLinksHere/List of Cambridge Companions to Music. Basically two case arises:

  • For templated references we should be using |series=[[Cambridge Companions to Music]]
  • For non-templated references we should be using [[Cambridge Companions to Music|The Cambridge Companion to [Example]]]

But in either case, I believe, the editor who is adding the reference will prefer not to include the "List of" part in the wikilink. At least the shorter wikilink makes more sense aesthetically. Or in other words while naming this article as a list would be better locally it would be better without globally. So I propose we move it back. Solomon7968 16:07, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose changing name -a list is a list. It doesn't cease to be one because editors may not want to bother to write out the article title.--Smerus (talk) 16:46, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
