Suggestions, etc[edit]

The shell of the old power station at South Fremantle is a very significant art deco structure, maybe the last of the big industrial examples following the Emu Brewery implosion a few years ago. Btw, check spelling, ? Coronado. Cheers Bjenks (talk) 15:24, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback - Coronado Hotel is now the Claremont Medical Centre so will update the listing. Will add South Fremantle Power Station. Unfortunately the Art Deco Society indicate that there are over 1,000 Art Deco buildings but don't provide an online list that I can use so I have had to put this one together based on my limited knowledge and various references I had. As for the Emu Brewery Building, given that it no longer exists didn't feel it fi9tted on the list. Dan arndt (talk) 05:54, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Raffles article upgrade needed[edit]

I suggest that the Raffles warrants an article to itself. The present copy at Canning Bridge#Raffles Hotel should be moved to Raffles Hotel, Perth as a start, and any due disambiguation rigmarole done. The important knowledge about this building is that former owner Abe Saffron applied for its total demolition in 1995, prompting Perth's greatest successful heritage campaign since the saving of the Terrace Tech in 1985. The Raffles campaign was waged for seven long years by local and international activists before a brilliant Art Deco Society team, headed by Dr Rosalind Lawe Davies, saved the building with a successful appeal before the Town Planning Appeal Tribunal. I have sound documentation of these events in published copies of ADSWA's journal Waltzing Moderne and relevant press cuttings which will substantially beef up the article. Strange you should mention this but awhile ago I started work on an article for the Raffles Hotel however only got up to the history prior to the redevelopment. Have moved it across to Raffles Hotel, Perth - so that others can update and add more updated material - will try and get back to it myself sometime soon. @PerthDeco: I'd recommend adding a reference column to most of the tables. If this became fully referenced, it'd be well on its way to a featured list candidacy. @Sdkb: Good suggestion thanks - might be a good "its way too hot to go outside" summer project.
