Given name[edit]

At least three of the sources currently cited in the article (i.e. Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Hip-Hop DX) verify that the subject's given name is "Jaquavius B. Dickums". Before now, the article stated that the subject's given name is really "Tavares Taylor"; however, this name doesn't seem to be verified in any of the sources. For this reason, I have provisionally removed "Tavares Taylor" from the article.

I noticed that several unregistered users have been pushing a change to "Jaquavius B. Dickums", but several of us have reversed them for lack of citation, and it seems a long-term-abuser is in the mix as well (can't really complain against the reverts there). Given the sources, it seems to me that the unregistered users may actually be in the right here, but since there have been several reverts already, I wanted to discuss first. If there is a BLP policy violation here (WP:BLPCRIME comes straight to mind), I think we may have to remove the content that cites the three sources mentioned above (i.e. the "Legal issues" section) in addition to reverting these unregistered users. We seem to be treating "Reese" as his surname. "Lil Reese" is his stage name, but it doesn't strike me as containing a surname. I suggest we should consistently use the full stage name or we should refer to him as "Taylor". General Ization Talk 01:52, 30 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Point taken. I think we should follow the lead of the sources, along with other Wikipedia articles about similar topics, such as the Lil Wayne article, in which it looks like they use the full "Lil Wayne" throughout the article. Semi-protected edit request on 17 May 2021[edit]

Apologies for the length of request but this page is currently showing some very incorrect mixed up information and requires some explanation rather than just change X to Y.

Under the “Personal life” section and “2021 shooting” headline, concerning this content:

“His eye was grazed by a gunshot; he and another of the men, who was shot in the knee, were later listed in fair to good condition, and the third in critical condition with multiple wounds to the torso.[10]”

The [10] referenced source TMZ news article, as well as several other news sources, have mixed up the injured parties and attributed the wrong person/injury with Lil Reese.

He in fact, was not the man who suffered a grazed eye and in fair to good condition. He was the man who was in critical condition with multiple wounds to the torso and was badly beaten.

This can be confirmed by watching the below linked video, taken by a witness at the scene, showing the aftermath of the incident, outside the parking garage, as the police arrive but before medical assistance arrives.

The video shows an injured man in a blue hoodie, red sleeve and grey hood, walking out of the parking garage at the start of the video, then later sitting on the sidewalk. He has a clear graze to his eye area, as referenced in the TMZ news report. But this man is clearly not Lil Reese. Which can be checked by looking at confirmed photographs of Lil Reese online.

The second injured man in the video, who is lying on the ground trapped behind some yellow railings, who appears to be in critical condition, is clearly identifiable as Lil Reese. He is in fact the man referenced in the TMZ report as wounded multiple times in the body in critical condition. It appears he has also been badly beaten.

My suggestion for the replacement of the section referenced above as [10] would be:

“Reese sustained multiple wounds to the torso, and was badly beaten. He was later listed as in critical condition. The other two men were listed as in fair to too condition. One was shot in the knee and the other had his eye grazed by a gunshot.”
