Merger proposal[edit]

Given the similarities in telescopes, institutions and personnel, this survey is obviously the same as the one covered by the article California and Carnegie Planet Search. WolfmanSF (talk) 18:39, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that you're correct. At the least, California and Carnegie Planet Search is a predecessor to this survey. As far as I can tell, the press has largely referred to this project as the "Lick-Carnegie...", so I think it would be OK to at least link California and Carnegie Planet Search to this article, and to probably just merge it here. I've added most of the content of the California and Carnegie Planet Search article. A slight complication is that there is now a California Planet Search which appears to be separate. Maybe it deserves a separate article. However, since the Lick-Carnegie Exoplanet Survey doesn't appear to have a web site, I can't confirm this. I don't have the time to sort this out at the moment.
