Untitled[edit]

Lee's wife Cathy was not one of the Garman Sisters. Check out Kathleen Garman's bio, she married Jacob Epstein, not Laurie Lee.Veronica Mars fanatic 12:13, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well done. I meant to revert that but obviously never got round to it. Shows how careful we have to be about letting mistakes like this creep in and propagate over the web. The dates don't begin to match up: Kathleen Garman (b.1902) died the best part of 30 years ago; Kathy Lee (née Katherine Francesca Polge in 1931, acc to DNB) is still alive as far as I've heard. In 1950 Lee married Catherine Francesca Polge, a Provençal woman; they had one daughter. This is the info. I have Ivankinsman 15:11, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to DNB, Kathy Lee née Polge was the niece of Lorna Cecilian Wishart nee Garman (1911–2000), with whom Lee lived and had a daughter, Jasmine or Yasmin, in 1939, while Lorna was still married to (Ernest) Wishart. Kathleen Garman was another aunt of Kathy Lee's, which presumably accounts for the confusion highlighted above. Flapdragon 16:34, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have written a much more extensive article on Laurie Lee, using the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography as my main source of information, since this provides the most comprehensive and well-researched account of Laurie Lee's life and writing. Which Honour[edit]

The title says MBE, the text says OBE, which is a higher honour. Which one? — Preceding unsigned comment added by RichardRegal (talkcontribs) 23:46, 20 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I was just about to ask the same question! I checked the ODNB article, and that says MBE. I have amended the text and added the reference. DuncanHill (talk) 00:06, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
