I don't know what the convention is in the U.K., but in the United States, within the industry, "actor" is used for either a male or a female. Outside the industry, however, "actor" is generally used for a male, and "actress" for a female. SlowJog (talk) 03:22, 13 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Right wikicode, wrong image, and sorry to rain on your parade ... we have stringent rules about photos on biographies of living people - unless the image is very noteworthy in itself, we don't use fair-use images on them for illustration; the illustration has to be freely-licensed. This is a bit hard-arsed, but has been remarkably effective in netting us good images of living people - see Wikipedia:FAIRUSE#Images_2. So we need to track down a photo of Ms Ward that's under a free licence - David Gerard (talk) 07:40, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong Character[edit]

First new discussions go at the bottom of the page. Next, please read the section of the article regarding here time on Dr Who. It mentions that she played Astra. Last, I hope that you are kidding as, after playing Astra, she played the second incarnation of Romana for almost two full seasons and reprised the role in the Children in Need special that celebrated the 30th anniversary of the show. Family[edit]

Another vile "via"! In this sentence, "via" is used to mean "descended from" and is solecistic: "Through her father she is descended from George Plantagenet, 1st Duke of Clarence, brother of Edward IV and Richard III, via [sic] John Mordaunt, 1st Earl of Peterborough, John, 1st Viscount Mordaunt, and Bernard Ward, 1st Viscount Bangor." Deleted factual error[edit]

In accordance with WP:BLP policy I have deleted a factual error from the lead sentence, which stated that Ward was "retired." It violated the policy a) because the statement was unsourced and b) is factually incorrect as she is currently active recording audio dramas for Big Finish Productions and has been for about 10 years now, and is also involved in recording audio books. 68.146.70.124 (talk) 00:35, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Missing role[edit]

She played a part in "High Summer", part of the Armchair Theatre series. That was about 1972. The trouble is there is almost nothing to reference or footnote this to, besides, well, the credits of the show as presented on DVD.
