Lab leak currently assumes that this refers to the COVID-19 lab leak conspiracy theory, and redirects to COVID-19 misinformation. Thoughts on perhaps redirecting this to List of accidents and incidents involving laboratory biosecurity instead? That article is basically a list of lab leaks over the years. I think objectively speaking, that would be a better target. But that article is also a bit WP:PROFRINGE, so double checking first. Thanks. –Novem Linguae (talk) 08:01, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. The redirect should go to List of accidents and incidents involving laboratory biosecurity, since "lab leak" is a general statement about a lab incident. The COVID-19 lab leak hypothesis is the more specific statement and should redirect to the Investigations into the origin of COVID-19#Investigations. --Guest2625 (talk) 07:39, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Lab leaks are not all about COVID-19, as you can see if you Google lab leak and filter the results to be before 2019. See https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2007/08/report-lab-leak-likely-caused-uk-foot-and-mouth-outbreak or https://www.biospace.com/article/around-the-web/china-reports-sars-death-caused-by-lab-leak/, for example. —Enervation (talk) 14:22, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone ahead and changed the redirect. Wqwt (talk) 21:22, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@User:RandomCanadian can you explain what you mean by "out of process: please close the RfD while you're at it."? So far the RfD has unanimous consensus for changing redirect. Wqwt (talk) 22:14, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you should go to Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2021_June_7#Lab_leak and follow the instructions for closing a discussion (you should use Wikipedia:XFDcloser, if that makes things simpler). It's just bad form to redirect the page without closing the discussion (there is some minor opposition); and well since I've !voted in the RfD I can't really do that. Thanks for letting me know. It looks like someone just took care of it in the meantime. Wqwt (talk) 00:21, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
