Kundiman vs. Philippine classical music[edit]

Philippine classical music isn't necessarily kundiman. Kundiman should remain separate from Philippine classical music. --The SunKing 03:00, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On the true origin of the Tagalog Kundiman[edit]

To Mr/Miss Ushiwaka,

I have edited the Kundiman article to correct some unsupported claims and allegations that you have posted with regards to the origin of the Kundiman as Kapampangan (or originating from the province of Pampangga). Could you cite any references or any historical documents written by reliable scholars and historians to support your claim that the Kundiman of the Tagalogs originated from the province of Pampangga?

I have done quite a major research about the Kundiman and nowehere did I find any reference written by scholars, musicologist and historians that the Tagalog Kundiman was "originally a Kapampangan war song" [1] as you claimed it to be.

Please be more careful and responsible by doing a more rigid and serious research on Philippine Music before posting about the Kundiman in the Wikipedia. Many Filipino students depends on Wikipedia.

Please find time to read the following works and articles written by reliable writers, scholars and historians which points to the fact that the Kundiman is purely Tagalog in origin and not Kapampangan [Note: some articles are written in Spanish so please use any online "Language Tool" available over the net to translate them] :

You might as well visit the National Library of the Philippines in Manila to read Dr. Francisco Santiago's 1931 work entitled "The Development of Music in the Philippines" before posting anything about Philippine Music in the Wikipedia.

Maraming salamat po.
