Happy to take up this review. In the meantime, I'd really appreciate it if you could take up one of my many current GANs that might as well stall for a few months... Cheers, Ippantekina (talk) 07:25, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Ippantekina: thanks . I will be busy with another enwiki project + real life school nonsense this week, but I'll do my best to clear the backlog by reviewing one of your own ‍ ‍ Elias 🌊 ‍ 💬 "Will you call me?"

On first glance the article is meticulously written and formatted. Sources are properly cited and everything looks sooo neat.

Many thanks

Lead and infobox[edit]

  • In light of the issue with false titles (which I myself recently know), I suggest changing to "the American singer SZA"
    • This is a personal essay, and per WP:NOTBROKEN I feel fine with keeping it. This is a matter of style variation widely accepted across Wikipedia.
      • I think you meant WP:BROKE as NOTBROKEN is for redirects, but I understand and won't push on this. Ippantekina (talk) 06:36, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • "the lyrics discuss a fantasy to kill an ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend out of jealousy, and it employs humorous" → "they employ"
    • Done
  • "On its component Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart" is the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart really a component of the Hot 100?
    • no. that would be Digital Songs, Streaming Songs, and Radio Songs. Don't know why I added that word there. culled
  • "and received many multi-platinum certifications worldwide." and it received?
    • Done
  • "including but not limited to" pretty self-explanatory
    • that's gone
  • Suggest adding {{short description}} manually as, per the GAN page, this article does not have one
    • Added
  • Not sure if a release date for the remix is worth including in the Infobox
    • Open Arms (SZA song) passed with the same thing happening, so it's alright I would say. The remix's release is pretty notable too
  • More to come. Ippantekina (talk) 03:20, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

More[edit]

  • Overall very solid prose.
    • "About a week later[23]—on July 13 at around 10 pm" the 10pm bit reads like trivia much..?
      • Excised
    • "Written on-the-spot in under an hour" this was mentioned in the previous section ("SZA needed only one or two takes to record the vocals and around an hour to write "Kill Bill"")
      • Got rid of the mention in the previous sections
    • A link to radio edit might be helpful ("radio stations played a censored version")
      • Linked
    • A photo of Doja Cat might be helpful for the "Remix" section
      • Added
    • ""Kill Bill" was a success on streaming services,[79] with two weeks atop the Billboard Global 200 chart" the Global 200 is not a streaming-only chart
      • Well yes but it is one half of the Global 200's basis for tracking songs, so it still belongs there methinks. i added a sentence explaining how the global 200 works to justify that mention's being there
    • Link "Nobody Gets Me", "Kiss Me More" and Doja Cat in the "Release" section and de-link it in the "Commercial performance" section
      • Done
    • Consider trimming the chart section (cue WP:CHARTTRAJ)
      • I think it should be good now
    • "The song had several top 5 peaks in the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East and North Africa regions. "Kill Bill" spent multiple weeks at number one in New Zealand[99] and Singapore" ehh NZ/SG are not MENA... Ippantekina (talk) 06:36, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
      • "Asia-Pacific" ?
    • "Mellotron sounds came from Prophet-6 synthesizer" to the best of my knowledge Mellotron is an instrument on its own and not just a sound?
      • Changed to "Mellotron's"
        • Eh... I don't have the liner notes myself so I can't say if the Mellotron sounds did come from the Propher 6 even though the Mellotron is already an instrument separate from the synth. Anyway.. Ippantekina (talk) 04:38, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Your Power: thanks so much for your work! As written in my userpage I'm on wikibreak till 16 Feb and I'm slowly resuming my editing. I'm committed to reviewing the whole article by Sunday; if by then you don't hear any response from me, do ping me! Thus far the progress has been positive and I'm sure it'll be promoted promptly. • The "note 1"; does it have to include that many quotes?
Great. I think I've got a hold of this for long enough. Passing on GA criteria. Though it was a long read, it was very interesting. Solid work! Ippantekina (talk) 06:57, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Prose-wise the article is very detailed. The critical reception section is well organised.
