"Oxo acids" > "keto acids"?[edit]

The IUPAC Gold Book says:

"Compounds having a carboxy group as well as an aldehydic or ketonic group in the same molecule, e.g. HC(=O)CH2CH2CH2C(=O)OH 5-oxopentanoic acid. In an organic context the term is generally shortened to oxo acids. The full name should be used if confusion with oxoacids seems possible. "

It seems "oxo acids" or "oxo carboxylic acids" (which is the IUPAC recommended name for the so-called "oxo acids" similar to the definition in this article) refers to more than just keto acids. Now what should we do with that?

PS. I am also going to add a "no-confuse" with "oxoacids", i.e. acids containing oxygen in a hydroxyl group. Thomas J. S. Greenfield (talk) 12:36, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The lead really needs fixing now. The dab line says "not to be confused with oxoacids", but the first sentence of the article says "keto acids ... (sometimes called oxoacids)". Wtf? I'm tempted to boldly fix it, but I would probably get it wrong. Looie496 (talk) 15:16, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
