Policy on autobiographies[edit]

The user EditorKF has been very active on this article, sometimes cleaning up less flattering phrases and sometimes adding more positive ones. It wouldn't be a stretch to assume that it's Kerry Killinger himself making his page as positive as possible.

I'm pretty new to Wikipedia but I do see that autobiographies are strongly discouraged. The guidelines state that it's ok to correct outright mistakes, but not use the page as a vanity project.

Here's a tangible example: the Associated Press and NBC reported that Killinger was removed by the board, whereas EditorKF changed it to say he retired. Obviously "fired" is less flattering than "retired" so I understand the desire to change it. But without a clear source explaining that he chose to retire, we've got to go with the AP's reporting.
