Chartist Mural recreation[edit]

The statement that the Chartist Mural is to be recreated is sourced to single local newspaper story from March; I have seen no such plan mentioned in in any of the more recent coverage. In particular, it is not mentioned in statements from the council about the destruction of the original. How reliable is the given source, on this point? According to a report today - [1] - the Chief Executive said that "the council should now focus on what will replace the mosaic. 'Officers have advised the appropriate cabinet member that consultation should commence as soon as possible,' he said. 'It is suggested that one of the options should be to commission a replica of the original mural.'" So, it's far from definite - it's an option, along with other (probably cheaper) options.
