Name Discrepancy[edit]

Her birth name and father's name have been confounded. Summary box says she was born "Callie Russell Porter." Article says "Callie Boone Porter" and mother's name. It appears a line here has been dropped.

Quotes[edit]

Katherine Anne Porter House[edit]

I came to this article hoping to find some information on the "Katherine Anne Porter House" (dedicated in 2002) since there isn't an article on the historical site. I was surprised to find that this article doesn't even mention it. I am not a Katherine Anne Porter expert so I hesitate to alter the article myself.Nrswanson (talk) 23:28, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Birth name[edit]

Brewster Ghiselin's "The Ring"[edit]

Note 1 reads "Brewster Ghiselin wrote a poem called "The Ring" that is an allusion to the marriage-suicide." What can this possibly mean? Neither Erskine Jr. nor, obviously, Porter died of suicide. Notably, Erskine's father, Erskine Sr., did, but as he was not the one married to Porter and died several years before the marriage, that cannot be what the note is referring to. Further, I can find no information about "The Ring" on the Internet (having searched multiple databases in addition to Google &c), so I'm not sure how to clear this up.136.50.223.19 (talk) 22:27, 27 March 2022 (UTC) note -- I wasn't logged in when I made that ^ addition re: "The Ring", but I just logged in now to properly record it. Marriage to Ernest Stock[edit]

There isn't any source besides Joan Givner's Porter: A Life that mentions Porter being married to Ernest Stock. Other biographers imply a relationship with Stock but there doesn't seem to be evidence they were ever married. Songbird490 (talk) 21:36, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sexual Orientation[edit]

I am reading Truman Capote's "Answered Prayers". The first chapter contains the following: "There have been several intellectual lesbians of physical distinction: Colette, Gertrude Stein, Willa Cather, Ivy Compton-Burnett, Carson McCullers, Jane Bowles; and, in altogether another category, simple endearing prettiness, both Eleanor Clark and Katherine Anne Porter deserve their reputations."
