Date of death[edit]

Many older reference works showed him dying on 29th, and that date is even prominently inscribed on his sarcophagus.

However, Nicolas Slonimsky confirmed through medical record searches that he died on 28th, and that date is now shown in reputable sources. Cheers JackofOz 13:23, 23 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This is extremely interesting. It tends to favour 28 March as the correct date, but ... well, it's complicated. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 14:02, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Gustav Neuhaus[edit]

Was Neuhaus, whose school he attended, his uncle, as is claimed in program notes to recordings anyway? Schissel-nonLop! 17:32, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About Korwin-Szymanowski, from both Ślepowron and Korwin CoA[edit]

Many families from Coat of arms of Ślepowron or some members of those families used/uses Korwin as Gentilicium, being Korwin an alternative name of Ślepowron, as well as the name of Coat of arms of Korwin at the same time. Any way, Herb Kowin is a Ślepowron odmiana or variation.

In a recent up date, Mr. Ryszard Jurzak added the surname Szymanowski to the list of the families entitled to use the Coat of arms Korwin. So there are Szymanowski and Korwin-Szymanowski in the Coat of arms Ślepowron as well as in the Coat of arms Korwin. --Gustavo Szwedowski de Korwin 03:42, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Coat of Arms?[edit]

The coat of arms is way too big, and frankly unnecessary in this rather short article about a very important and significant composer. It adds a IMHO, ludicrous touch to the stub about this 20th century personality. Dr. Dan 02:52, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Was he gay?[edit]

I noticed the WikiProject LGBT studies banner and just wondering, was he gay? There doesn't seem to be any mention of this in the article.. why is it part of the LGBT project? -- œ 08:12, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Read paragraph 2 in the "Life" section. Nihil novi (talk) 08:22, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh. I'll read more carefully next time instead of just skimming. :) -- œ 08:15, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Correction of a typo in Reference 3[edit]

I have twice tried to correct the typo in Reference 3. The correct version is 'Culture' not 'Cultute', but when I checked the Preview, I found that for reasons beyond my knowledge Reference 1 had been deleted and Reference 3 had become Reference 2. Accordingly I have not proceeded with correcting the typo. However, it would be good if someone could rectify this, please.CWO (talk) 17:03, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth[edit]

A recent edit changed Szymanowski's date of birth from 6 October to 3 October, without giving any explanation. This contradicted the cited source, so I have reverted the edit. Some online sources give each date, so ideally we should probably mention both and explain the discrepancy. I haven't done this because I couldn't find a suitable source. 188.30.208.233 (talk) 16:32, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
