Reliability of source for death.[edit]

@ManaliJain:, @Venkat TL: Which is more reliable source for death date among Times of India and The Hindu?? As I replaced Unreliable Anandbazaar to reliable Times Of India according to WP:ICTFSOURCES but an IP replaced it with The Hindu claiming that he replaced it with reliable source. Pri2000 (talk) 19:39, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Pri2000 Between the two, Hindu is more reliable. WP:TOI is not considered a reliable source for Wikipedia. 😭 RIP KK . Venkat TL (talk) 19:41, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Venkat TL: Thankyou so much for clearing this confusion. And yes he was a true legend. One of my favourite singers of all time. RIP KK 😢😢😢😢🙏🙏🙏🙏 Pri2000 (talk) 19:44, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please help to add reference[edit]

Dear All, please help to provide the missing references for the Career and songs section. 😢🙏 Venkat TL (talk) 19:50, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Manali Jain @Pri2000 @Hako9. The career section is now referenced. Please help with adding source to the Album and Award section. I just removed one south India Film Fare award as it mentioned KK as winner but on checking, I found someone else had won it. I think it is better to remove all the unreferenced entries. Venkat TL (talk) 09:52, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Venkat TL I think we should find out first then remove those who doesn't have reliable sources and keep them who have RS. Pri2000 (talk) 11:50, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I updated the career section along with the albums, Some IP user seems to have referenced the awards section. we can check and improve it further. Now removal may no longer be necessary. Venkat TL (talk) 11:53, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Venkat TL: Alrighty. ManaliJain (talk) 13:03, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ManaliJain, I have added some sources that proves that these album exists and is not a hoax. If you find better source, feel free to replace this with better source. Please do not remove this to add CN tag. If you are hell bent on removing the source for whatever reason, then please also remove the concerned text. For example The song from Tamil film Kavalan was sung by Tamil Singer K Kay, not the same guy as KK. So I have removed it. Venkat TL (talk) 13:09, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Alright then, no issues. ManaliJain (talk) 13:12, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Venkat TL: Regarding this, "I just removed one south India Film Fare award as it mentioned KK as winner but on checking, I found someone else had won it." Filmfare Awards South does mention that someone else had won the particular award, but India Today mentions that KK had received the respective award. What do you think about this, should it be added now since we do have a reliable source talking and at the same the award page does not have any reference cited to refer and verify. ManaliJain (talk) 13:37, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@ManaliJain India today is not very reliable source. They keep posting stuff without proper fact checking. Please check this link https://music.apple.com/us/album/kavalan-original-motion-picture-soundtrack/1128766546 If you click on the singer's name you will see different pic. You can hear the song at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9ssMT_Ypl4 To me it sounds different than KK. I believe this is a confusion due to similar name K Kay vs KK. Until we have clear confirmation, we should not add it on the article. Venkat TL (talk) 14:03, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, maybe that can be. Okay, thanks. ManaliJain (talk) 14:06, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Last couple RSN discussions, I found on using Spotify (argument extends to all music streaming sites), as a source; this and this. - hako9 (talk) 19:24, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Hako9 I see. So according to you which one is preferable. Remove the link and Leave the Cn tag, or leave spotify link with "better source needed" tag? I think latter is preferable as it helps verifiability. Venkat TL (talk) 14:26, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with User:Bkissin's comment in that RSN saying spotify is an WP:UGC. But if that's the case we should be allowed to cite spotify for tidbits like track length, track title, artists featured etc. because we allow editors to cite tweets if they are WP:SELFSOURCE. So I agree with the latter. - hako9 (talk) 03:39, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Hako9, understood thank you for clarifying your preference. Venkat TL (talk) 06:26, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Use of "Most successful", "most versatile", "the best" are examples of MOS:PUFFERY, and should be removed. Wikipedia is not a gossip magazine or fansite for sensationalist claims. Doesn't matter what khaleejtimes or news18 say. Bombarding sources that use the same bombastic language doesn't help. Exceptional claims like these require exceptional evidence and exceptional sources, as in multiple WP:RSP. - hako9 (talk) 20:58, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What constitutes an "exceptional source"? Khaleej Times and News18 are reliable enough in this context, and so were the other sources being "bombarded" (Hindustan Times, Indian Express, Pinkvilla). If multiple sources consider him among the most successful Indian singers of his time, then Wikipedia can state that "he has been described as one of the most successful Indian singers of his time (or 2000s)". See Shah Rukh Khan etc. Thats not positively loaded language just for the sake of it. Figuring this out isn't rocket science. 2001:8F8:172B:4994:4939:EEA5:2D53:5CBC (talk) 21:11, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The IE source [1] and [2] are WP:SYNDICATED puff pieces by IANS. I won't waste time commenting on pinkvilla. - hako9 (talk) 21:34, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

KK DIED IN SRI GURUDAS MAHAVIDYALAYA[edit]

KK died in a fest of Sri Gurudas Mahavidyalaya...not in Gurudas College fest 2409:4060:40C:46E1:84BF:64C7:FF85:C4DC (talk) 12:35, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I have removed the name of the college. It is not relevant. He was performing in the auditorium not in college. I have changed it to say "On 31 May 2022, KK performed a live music concert at a college fest at Nazrul Mancha auditorium, in South Kolkata." I hope it is acceptable.--Venkat TL (talk) 12:46, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Most versatile singer in bollywood music industry[edit]

Hello! I have some concern regarding your edits in KK (singer). Why is it wrong to say that he was not one of the most versatile singers in bollywood music industry when there are so many good sources to back it up? I think you removed it but i couldn't know why.
