'Other' category needs to be deleted[edit]

Trivial and unencyclopedic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.26.99.246 (talk) 04:20, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, should be removed immediately as per unimportant information (see WP:HTRIVIA) Acco Grayfox (talk) 08:23, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, I removed it, and added new material explaining the importance of petri dishes... Gacggt (talk) 09:16, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong picture[edit]

Hi,

I'm Sharanya. I'm a Microbiology student. I hope I'm right when i say this. The picture that you are saying is not Julius Petri, it is Robert Koch. I'm really sure it is not Julius Petri. Please change the picture. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.164.100.129 (talk) 04:47, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong word in importance section[edit]

In the last line of the 2nd paragraph of the importance section it says "This is repeated a this, and sometimes a fourth time, ..." I believe it should be "This is repeated a third, and sometimes a fourth time, ..." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kkidfall (talkcontribs) 10:05, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Google Doodle should not be a section[edit]

The Google Doodle section should be, at most, a subsection. timothymh (talk) 11:40, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The "Google Doodle" section is completely irrelevant and should be removed. This section does not contribute to any information regarding Julius Petri and there is little need for it. It appears to be a marketing ploy masquerading as a “commemoration”. I’ll assume it’s poor judgment on Google’s part. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.196.144.130 (talk) 16:10, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah because I'm sure Google is planning on getting their marketing by creating a small subsection on a random wikipedia article.72.92.237.154 (talk) 18:55, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Google is a corporation and is as incapable of judgement as any other protist. Do not suppose that bacteria and mold have spelled "Google" to demonstrate their superior knowledge and learning ability, they are acting under the same influence as the non-sentient entity we call Google. Do not be fooled! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.215.115.31 (talk) 22:45, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I got rid of it. Nsteinberg (talk) 02:30, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Scribd reference for the Google Doodle[edit]

I don't think we should be using the scribd reference (http://www.scribd.com/doc/144705132/Julius-Richard-Petri-3D-Car-Shows) as a citation to support the google doodle section (whether it should even be a section is another question). It's full of spelling and grammar mistakes. The content is apparently just pulled from this blog entry: http://3d-car-shows.com/2013/julius-richard-petri/ . It looks like the rest of the blog entry (not included in the scribd page) is just content taken from other sites including wikipedia. Also I don't think a site called 3D Car Shows should be used as a reference for biology or Google stuff.

I'm going to remove the reference. And since it's the only reference supporting what the source of the bacteria in each dish is, I'm also removing that information.Onlynone (talk) 13:48, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article would benefit from some. Here's one: History of the agar plate. 24.151.116.25 (talk) 14:09, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
