dela -> de la[edit]

IMHO, "dela" is more popular than "de la". --Howard the Duck 06:47, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uncle Sam vs. John Doe[edit]

If Juan de la Cruz is the Filipino placeholder name, isn't John Doe its American equivalent, not Uncle Sam as stated in the article? Pvb90 14:58, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think that the name "Juan dela Cruz" is both a placeholder and a national personification? I find it both, but it is somewhat contradicting. Mark j 03:08, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removed sentence about Filipinos being depicted as African islanders[edit]

124.104.137.72 (talk · contribs) added "Replacing the earlier pictures bearing the filipino as an african-like islander.", right after it is mentioned that Juan de la Cruz is often depicted in editorial cartoons with Uncle Sam. The problem is that the sentence seems to be out of place and that the "African-like" depiction covers American editorial cartoons, whereas the latter covers local editorial cartoons. --Edward Sandstig 19:10, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
