This brings back memories, I remember when I was back in China when I was younger and I saw this. It was in 2001, and they were still airing it as repeats. 75.181.126.102 (talk) 02:07, 11 March 2010 (UTC)NC fan[reply]

Cast and Characters[edit]

I realize Saiyūki is very popular in the Western World, and as such is probably one of the most famous versions outside of China, but why are the characters in this series, especially Xuanzang, being referred to by their Japanese/Saiyūki names when this is a Chinese production with Chinese actors portraying Chinese characters? I'm going to leave in 'Monkey', but will be removing (with minor edits) 'Tripitaka', 'Pigsy' and 'Sandy' Kwazimoto69 (talk) 16:17, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that these transliterations are used in other English translations (which is probably why the TV series was translated in that way). In particular, I'm pretty sure that the "Penguin Classics" translation that I read used these names. The Journey to the West article implies that these are among the common English translations of the names of these characters, so I would be cautious about simply using the Chinese names in an English-Wikipedia article. Actor List[edit]

I was going to do a list of the actors in the series episode by episode, just like in the table in the Chinese Article but then Lonelydarksky made it a full list in order of appearance, i think that the way I made it would be better, have a look at my edit TheChampionMan1234 (talk) 01:44, 18 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There will be a lot of (redundant) repetition if you're going to follow the format used on the Chinese Wikipedia page. Lonelydarksky (暗無天日) contact me (聯絡) 03:09, 18 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Year?[edit]

According to the Chinese Wikipedia the year this show is from 1982 not 1986: https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E8%A5%BF%E6%B8%B8%E8%AE%B0_(1982%E5%B9%B4%E7%94%B5%E8%A7%86%E5%89%A7) My Chinese is practically nonexistent but what is the reason for there being two different years on the two Wikipedias?--Vimdoge (talk) 01:08, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

1982 is when production started, 1986 is when it aired. 2600:6C42:7900:AA2D:D912:B141:68A9:156C (talk) 20:15, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
