Edward R. Pease[edit]

In regards to my removal of Edward Reynolds Pease as son of Joseph Pease

I believe several sources on the web have Edward R. Pease listed as the grandson of the Edward Pease (1767-1858) who is father of Joseph Pease. This apparently includes the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography which states:

"[Edward R. Pease is] the eldest son of Thomas Pease (d. 1884), retired wool-comber, and his third wife, Susanna Anne Fry, of the Quaker family of cocoa manufacturers. His father also came from a prominent Quaker family, being a son of the railway promoter and cousin of the more famous Peases of Darlington."

In fact Thomas Pease (1816-1884) is son of Thomas Benson Pease (1782-1846), son of Thomas Pease (1743-1811), son of Edward Pease (1711-17850 who is also father of Joseph Pease (1737-1808), father of Edward Pease (1767-1858), father of Joseph Pease (1799-1872) which would make Joseph Pease a second cousin once removed of Edward R. Pease.

Emma Gurney[edit]

I do not believe Emma Gurney is the daughter of the Joseph Gurney that her father is linked to. According to the Dictionary of National Biography Joseph John Gurney was married thrice the first time in 1817. Joseph Pease was married to Emma Gurney in 1826. I very much doubt that marrying women under the age of 9 was allowed at that time. Spartacus which is where I think this fact came from is, I've found, notoriously unreliable. --Erp 19:40, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
