Birth place[edit]

Until some one can work his birth place in to the main article cleanly (as required by the style manual), I'm removing his birth place. He was born in Fuenterrabia, Spain. Trevor1 05:11, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

José María Olazabal was born in Fuenterrabia, Guipuzcoa, Spain which has since been renamed Hondarribia, Gipuzkoa, Spain. I live in Hondarribia, and have lived here for more than 50 years. My youngest son went to school with Olazabal. His nickname in the sporting world may be Ollie, but here it has always been Txema (pronounced CHE-ma)which is the Basque contraction for the last syllable of Jose and the first syllable of Maria. He still lives in this village. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Danparra (talkcontribs) 08:15, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Longest putt[edit]

"Olazábal also holds the world record distance for a completed putt. During the 1999 European Ryder Cup team's Concorde flight to the United States, he holed a putt which travelled the full length of the cabin. The ball was in motion for 26.17s, during which time the Concorde, at 1,270mph, travelled 9.232 miles, beating US golfer Brad Faxon's previous record of 8.5 miles, set in 1997."

-hahahaha!!! this is a joke right? Cogent 19:22, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
