Brief description[edit]

In the brief description when searching on mobile, he is called a "Cuban baseball player". Please can this be "Cuban-American", like in the article. He risked his life to become an American — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.18.31.192 (talk) 03:14, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Request: Add "Legacy" section[edit]

In many ways, Jose was a representation of the Cuban-American community in Miami, and his story resonated with the people of South Florida. He experienced strife in Cuba, strived to become an American citizen, and became successful in the US. His story related to many of those in Miami, being that many families were built from the Cuban refugees or were refugees themselves. I request a Legacy section be added to this article. Greg Cote's article in the Miami Herald (http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/greg-cote/article104097616.html) as well as Dan Le Batard's (http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/dan-le-batard/article104096841.html) are, in my judgement, good sources to draw from. 128.227.1.255 (talk) 16:09, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fernandez was the winner of the 2016 NL Comeback player of the year. It can be listed under his Career highlights and awards.[[1]

So sad that he passed away. I've read through this and I'm going pass it on the basis that it is well written and comprehensive. It would be good if you could address the minor issues above. JAGUAR  18:09, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

On October 13, 2016, the Florida Panthers honored the late Jose Fernandez by wearing number 16 and his name on the back of their jerseys during warmups. The Miami Heat honored him by wearing shirts that said "JDF" and his number. NateClate (talk) 01:52, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Title[edit]

This page needs a new title in light of José Fernández (pitcher, born 1993). But what's the proper format, (pitcher, born 1992), (Cuban pitcher), or (right-handed pitcher)? I've seen all three. Nohomersryan (talk) 21:05, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oh boy. Well, I dunno. This Jose Fernandez more prominent than the Blue Jays pitcher... but WP:COMMONNAME? I dunno. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:13, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
